The church was done. The sea was still waiting.

Sicily wedding photography at Cala Rossa, Terrasini: the cliff edge, the Tyrrhenian sea and the last light of a wedding day.

Alessia & Bartolo said their vows in Palermo earlier that day. Then we drove out to the coast.

They walked to the edge hand in hand, the train dragging over the dry grass, and stopped where the rocks drop into the sea. The sun went down slowly. They were in no hurry to leave.

“Crazy question!” was the subject of Rainee’s email. She and Steven were flying to Cefalù, Sicily, for their wedding tasting.

The question: since they would be in town for a few days, could we photograph the two of them, seven months before the wedding?

It isn’t a crazy question. If you’re already coming to Sicily before your wedding, for a tasting, a venue visit, a few days with your planner, that trip has a free afternoon in it. You get used to the camera with nothing at stake, and I learn how the two of you move before the day itself.

We met at 5:15 PM in Piazza del Duomo, walked the old town down to the water, and stayed on the rocks until the sun went down. Ninety minutes, a white dress, a striped shirt, and Steven’s hand helping Rainee down the rocks.

Next May they come back to Cefalù to get married. By then the camera won’t be new to them.

Wind, old stone, and two people who kept laughing.

You don’t need a wedding to be photographed in Sicily. Evi and Emanuele at the Temple of Segesta, early afternoon.

A trip, an engagement, the year before your wedding: any of them is a reason to walk somewhere old, together, and see how the two of you move in it.

Evi and Emanuele danced on the open ground in front of the temple, walked the worn stone steps, and laughed with the wind in her hair.

Luxury wedding photography in Palermo, Sicily — baroque stone, iron gates, and a dress that decided to move on its own.

The wind took the train at exactly the right moment.
Past a fountain the city has had since the 1500s, through gates that have seen centuries, down streets where every stone carries a name.

She moved through it like she’d always known where she was going.
He followed.

Inside, a gilded room that has held half the city’s history.
A dome painted by hands that never imagined a day like this one.

Luxury couple photography in Cefalù, Sicily — the Arab-Norman city, the old harbour, and an afternoon that turned everything gold.

The buildings behind them have been standing for nine hundred years.
That afternoon they were the backdrop for something much younger and considerably happier.

Luxury wedding photography in Sicily — Capo Zafferano at dusk, Villa Ramacca in baroque stone, and fireworks at midnight.

Flavia chose a dress that looked like it was made from the light itself — off-shoulder, architectural, without a single ornament.
Francesco watched her come down those baroque steps and didn’t move.
Villa Ramacca has hosted celebrations for centuries.
That afternoon it offered its oldest stone, a courtyard full of white parasols, and a sky that couldn’t decide between blue and gold.
Then they went to the sea.
The wind at Sant’Elia does something to a veil that no studio in the world can replicate.
The night ended with fire.
