RICHMOND RIVERSIDE

Another capture from an early summer morning bike ride across Richmond Bridge by the river.

Some fun facts about Richmond Bridge and Richmond Riverside:

❗️Richmond Bridge is Grade I listed and is the oldest surviving bridge on the Thames in London

❗️Richmond Riverside is famous for lazy summer evenings and is great for catching a bit of sun during the day.

❗️Richmond Boathouse is where you can see boats and barges being worked on outside

❗️You can walk along the full stretch of the Thames

❗️Float up on a boat from Westminster Pier, which you can ride down to Hampton Court Palace.

❗️ The buildings that line the riverside incorporate classical styles of the 17th to 19th centuries.

❗️ Visit to the Riverside Gallery in the Old Town Hall with its informative exhibition about the history of the area.

WINDSOR GREAT PARK

Over lockdown I managed to explore some of the areas around me, as many of us did. One of those places was Windsor Great Park and Virginia Water, and walking from one to another was a great afternoon spent.

Facts about Windsor Great Park 🤔

Virginia Water lake was first dammed and flooded in 1753 under the rule of the Duke of Cumberland in his role as Park Ranger, becoming the largest man-made lake of its time

Home to Guard’s Polo Club, Smith’s Lawn in Windsor Great Park is best known for the prestigious polo events held here throughout the year.

The Long Walk starts at Windsor Castle and ends at Snow Hill where you will find the famous Copper Horse Statue of King George III

The Long Walk was built by King Charles II who after his visit to Versailles considered building a similar park and garden at Windsor Castle
