Some couples come to the Lake Como with a list of places they want to check off.
George and Lexi came from Sacramento, California, and instead decided to spend three slow days in Bellagio for a small romantic getaway — ferries across the lake, long walks, cafés by the water and an engagement session naturally built around their trip.
We met around 6pm, when Bellagio still had that lively late-afternoon atmosphere with people walking along the waterfront and ferries coming and going across the Lake Como.
We started near La Limoniera and slowly moved through the old streets of the village, passing through Salita Serbelloni with its stone stairways, warm-colored buildings, tiny shops and little openings overlooking the lake.
But honestly, the best part of Bellagio starts once you leave the main street behind.
Most of the session happened just by wandering around without rushing too much — small alleys above the waterfront, old staircases, quiet corners, little docks, cafés facing the water and those random moments where the light suddenly becomes perfect for two minutes and then disappears again.
Before sunset we reached Punta Spartivento, where the three branches of the Lake Como meet and the mountains start catching the last warm light of the day.
Around that time Bellagio slowly starts changing atmosphere.
The ferries begin leaving, the streets become quieter and the whole village feels softer and calmer compared to the busy middle of the day.
There’s a reason why places like Salita Serbelloni, Punta Spartivento, the waterfront cafés and the gardens around Villa Serbelloni are some of the most loved spots on the Lake Como.
You don’t really need a strict plan here. You just walk around and the scenery does the rest.
What I love about engagement sessions on the Lake Como is that they rarely feel like actual photoshoots.
They feel more like memories from a trip together.
