Blessjess Photography “A picture is a secret about a secret, the more it tells you the less you know.”
― Diane Arbus

I am a person who:

Is a seeker…
Is fascinated by rather insignificant things around
Might not wear too many colours but thinks colours
Inspired by a café as a space – a creative haven
Loves to spend afternoon in art galleries and bookstores
Gets satiated by heavy doses of art and culture – in all forms
Believes that intellectual seduction is not a farce
Is driven by cultivating the spiritual si

de
Lives a book, without even realizing it
Is in love, with no specific entity…just feels it all around
Loves to soak in the sun
Is just soft and lost…

As many others, I am certainly not an easy person to describe. An aesthete at heart (and sometimes at mind too)…who is not
familiarized with Art History or formal Art Appreciation YET!

I am blessed with extremely loving and supportive parents and a
rather endearing little brother, who is not so little now and much
older than me with his words and mellowness.

Academic background:
- Graduation in Human Development and Masters in Social Work from University of Delhi.
- Masters in Evidence Based Social Intervention from University of Oxford.
- P.G Diploma in Human Rights Law (NLSIU), Certificate Course in ‘Gender and Society ‘ - University of Delhi

Photography:
Credits to my genes, support, motivation and opportunity provided by family and friends, my well developed and still developing Brain, and a wonderful tool – camera! The creative me motto : -
‘Art yourself’ and everything around you is a wonder ! Photography for me:

A photograph is about capturing the moment, and camera helps you do that. For me it goes much deeper than just capturing it, I form a relationship at the very second I click – whether this relation grows on not largely depends on my liking for it while it is being tempered upon by Picasa. I have used Picasa so much that when I hear ‘Picasso’ – for a second it strikes me as wrong. Looking out for ‘world capture(s)’ – makes me look within – peeking in the world inside me which is so vast – more than the world outside.

I have not had any formal training in photography – it has really been exploratory – just that this exploration yielded results which were sometimes greatly appreciated and my smile to myself soon infused some confidence in me – to make this photographic world of mine bigger than it initially was. The physics of it - in literal terms it is it - Photo (light) – I am not quite sure how far is the day when it is going to come naturally to me to be cognizant of all technicalities while I click – for now I just love to immerse myself in what I click. It must be quite apparent by now that I love to blabber on – particularly about me and at such spaces created by myself. However, I will consciously curtail the process right away – and let my pictures complete the remaining blabber…

To let the aspirations reside inside prescribes to an ambitious trait. To let these aspirations breathe every moment to become an ambition prescribes to that which stays. Aspirations such as these are monumental, as opposed to the aspirations that are momentary. Momentary aspirations aspire to expire and in that it’s profundity lights ablaze. This photo-series is an attempt to capture that profundity of the evanescent moment that the subject is experiencing. It weaves a holga-ish taffeta of these ‘in the moment’ aspirations of people. In this moment, all I desire is to breathe in the satisfaction of a lazy afternoon cocktail by the bay all I care about is to quench the thirst that parched my mother’s throatall I feel is a connect with my gracious friend as we playall I demand from myself is love for myself for who I am all I need to do is to climb those stairs wherever they may leadall I intend to do is cherish this special bond of common parentage all I bother about is the freedom to make my voice heardall I yearn for is to tread this divinely luminous path all I wish is for that incense to suffuse into white swirling aromaall I want is for the corncob to be gently cajoled by the flames into a roastall I long for a cup of ‘nuun chai’ at the mid-lake café all I covet for is a more moisturized and prettier me all I crave for is that lip-smacking sip of hot coffee with friendsall I wait for is this painting to brim with colors of my patience
