Navigating the ancient, wave-carved rocks of Santa Cesarea Terme presents a demanding setting for nocturnal portraiture, particularly when intense summer heat and heavy coastal humidity set in. During this August session with Ilenia, battling the damp air required constant attention to gear and pacing, turning a concise one-hour shoot into a true test of endurance.
Positioned against the levigated stone, Ilenia maintained total composure in a long black dress while sweeping light trails were drawn by hand around her silhouette. Capturing roughly 80 successful long exposures under these conditions highlights the importance of deliberate movement and physical patience, defining the core approach behind every Sublument light-painting photography portrait along the Salento coast.
