L’esperienza di residenza fotografica e masterclass nel Casentino, Toscana, grazie alla borsa di studio Ivano Bolondi, organizzata dal CIFA (Centro Italiano Fotografia d'Autore), si è conclusa sabato scorso, con la presentazione dei progetti di noi partecipanti al Teatro Dovizi di Bibbiena.
È stata una settimana intensissima, in cui mi sono potuto dedicare alla realizzazione del progetto “Creatura d’Arno”, che sarà visibile in mostra, insieme ai progetti degli altri partecipanti, al Festival della Fotografia Italiana 2026.
Si è fotografato tanto, guidati dal bravissimo, simpatico (e da me stimatissimo) Simone Donati (vi consiglio di vedere il suo libro fotografico “Varco Appennino”, con testi di Franco Arminio). Ma soprattutto si è creata una bellissima dinamica di gruppo con gli altri partecipanti e gli organizzatori, in cui ci siamo divertiti ogni giorno a volontà. Si è mangiato benissimo, gli organizzatori non hanno badato a spese, e per i primi 4 giorni ci hanno ospitato in un bellissimo antico casale con piscina, in mezzo alle colline casentinesi, con vista sul castello di Poppi. Dopodichè ci hanno sistemato nell’hotel Borgo Antico di Bibbiena, nel centro storico. Questa residenza mi ha dato anche l’opportunità di visitare posti davvero affascinanti, il Casentino è davvero bello, con i suoi castelli, borghi medioevali, foreste ed eremi/monasteri ad alta quota.
Sono grato e stracontento di aver avuto questa occasione e di aver conosciuto persone umanamente fantastiche e preparate a livello fotografico (è stato bello anche osservare gli approcci fotografici di ognuno). Nuove amicizie si sono create e ci siamo già organizzati per andare al Paris Photo insieme!

The photography residency and masterclass in Casentino, Tuscany, thanks to the Ivano Bolondi scholarship organized by CIFA, ended last Saturday with the presentation of the participants' projects at the Teatro Dovizi in Bibbiena.
It was an intense week, during which I was able to devote myself to the creation of the project “Creatura d'Arno,” which will be on display, together with the projects of the other participants, at the Festival della Fotografia Italiana 2026.
We took lots of photographs, guided by the talented, friendly (and highly esteemed) Simone Donati (I recommend you take a look at his photography book “Varco Appennino,” with texts by Franco Arminio). But above all, a wonderful group dynamic was created with the other participants and the organizers, and we had a great time every day. The food was excellent, the organizers spared no expense, and for the first four days they hosted us in a beautiful old farmhouse with a swimming pool, in the middle of the Casentino hills, with a view of Poppi Castle. After that, they put us up at the Borgo Antico hotel in Bibbiena, in the historic center. This residency also gave me the opportunity to visit some truly fascinating places. Casentino is really beautiful, with its castles, medieval villages, forests, and high-altitude hermitages/monasteries.
I am grateful and overjoyed to have had this opportunity and to have met such wonderful people who are also skilled photographers (it was also great to observe everyone's photographic approaches). New friendships were formed and we have already made plans to go to Paris Photo together.
