It's 1am when we wake up because of the the typhoon Yutu arrived on our island, Saipan
From the windows we could see the strongness of the wind against the palm trees around our house
After a while the rain started to come in from the windows of our bedroom and we moved the bed and all our stuffs in the living room.
After 2 hours in which we tryed to contain the possible damages we slept until morning in the livingroom, far from unprotected windows
When we woke up, at 7.30, we looked for damages.
Hopefully nothing. All that trees around our garden saved us.
Yes, now there's not power, gas, few water..
But we are safe, and the dog too. We still have an house and a car.
So, we went outside discovering the island as the first time I arrived here 3 months ago.
This is Saipan after Yutu, a class 5 typhoon.
"Typhoon Yutu killed at least one person and injured at least 133 others in the Northern Mariana Islands earlier this week. The injuries ranged from minor cuts to severe wounds. Significant destruction was sustained on Saipan and Tinian during the storm, and recovery efforts are expected to span months. At least 800 people across the Northern Marianas Islands have been evacuated to temporary shelters and the number is expected to rise as recovery efforts continue. Electricity and water supplies have been disrupted and sources now indicate they will likely be down for weeks or possibly months."
