Inspired by the words with which John the Baptist pointed to Christ — “Behold the Lamb of God” — the artwork depicts a life-sized ceramic lamb that recalls traditional Sicilian Easter confections. Across its body, bite marks open gashes from which a soft, precious, gold-colored stuffing emerges: wounds that do not consume, but reveal. It is the Lamb who proclaims peace and, at the same time, whispers “do not touch me.” Noli me tangere thus becomes an invitation to recognize the sacredness of fragility and to interrupt the predatory gesture that turns the sacred into an object, the living into a thing.

The artwork will be part of the exhibition Vox Clamantis. The Baptist Today, curated by .guastella.14 and Ciro Salinitro, which will take place from December 20, 2025 to January 20, 2026 at the Cathedral Museum of Palazzo Garofalo in Ragusa, Sicily.

Quando mi sdraio in questo letto e chiudo gli occhi,
vedo il viso delle stelle.
Una ride, un’altra piange, un’altra cade.
Ogni sera ci guardiamo: io da sotto e loro dall’alto di un cielo scuro.
Tutte le sere ci parlo, e dopo una mezz’ora iniziamo a cantare di ciò che abbiamo vissuto.
E nel momento in cui la mia voce si fonde con la loro,
una piccola stella si allontana da quest’impasto e diventa prepotente e canta:
“Quello che canti è già passato, quello che stai vedendo è già domani.
Mentre tu aspetti di addormentarti, ti sei già svegliato e il domani è già rischiarato.
Io che canto e brillo nel mezzo di questo cielo unto delle notti passate,
sono già morta da una vita ma tu non lo sai, e ti innamori di chi cammina senza respirare”.
Ed io, sotto a queste coperte bollenti, mi accorgo che la mia voce è così bella che mi sembra di star già sognando.
