The Olympics, at home

Livigno, 2026-02-06 / 2026-02-22

So, here’s a quick and messy carousel to celebrate the unique, once in a lifetime (or ever) 2026 Winter Olympics that also happened to take place in my hometown of Livigno!

The games closed exactly ten days and most of the structures were already gone last weekend. How time flies!
But “il gioco è bello quando dura poco”.

Only got to attend one event properly, the Big Air (Eileen Gu on pic 4 and now also on video on 5 and 9) but also got to briefly meet one of the Italian heroes with gold in Ski Cross (Simone Deromedis, pic 3).

In summary, what a whirlwind of emotions. Almost too much, too quickly but gotta say it was a historic event and a honour to experience it, despite being on a budget.

Curious to see if this is just a blink or maybe the start of even more popularity for Livigno, either way, very glad it happened!

PS if only I could upload in multiple aspect ratios, eh my IG isn’t cooperating!

Second study on Villa Monastero

Fast forward one week from the last photo, today - now yesterday - the sky was spotless. The first day of Autumn felt like the first day of Summer. Not a single cloud but plenty of imperfections from the train window and the wacky lens flare. 'tis fine, 'tis life.

"Who is in charge of the clattering train?

Nightscape of the Treasury of Petra with Bedouins

Captured at 21:59:59 last Monday from a high vantage point, this photograph unveils the majestic Treasury of Petra (Al-Khazneh) beautifully lit beneath a starry sky. The Siq, Petra's iconic narrow canyon, stretches into the darkness. A white pickup truck, belonging to local Bedouins, is positioned in the lower right, adding a touch of modern contrast to the ancient and majestic landscape.
