Between shadows and steel.
Encountering a Eurasian Eagle-owl (Bubo bubo) in the wild means playing by its rules: hours of waiting, perfect camouflage, and the constant feeling of being watched long before you can actually spot it.
In the first four slides, I wanted to recreate that visual journey: the striking gaze, the game of hide-and-seek among the dense branches, and the majesty of the adult ruling the woods.
But the story takes a sharp turn in the final shot.
Behind that heavy industrial steel rockfall netting, there is a chick in its nest. It’s a raw look at a nature that refuses to give up, forced to adapt and claim the few vertical spaces left, caught between the rock and our human infrastructure.
This is what documenting wildlife means to me today: celebrating its beauty, without hiding its fragility.

🇨🇭 Entre ombres et acier.
Rencontrer un Grand-duc d'Europe dans son milieu naturel, c'est accepter ses règles : des heures d'attente, un mimétisme absolu et cette sensation constante d'être observé bien avant de pouvoir l'apercevoir.
Dans les quatre premières photos, j'ai voulu recréer ce voyage visuel : le regard perçant, le jeu de cache-cache dans les branches et la majesté de l'adulte qui domine la forêt.
Mais l'histoire bascule sur la dernière image.
Derrière ce filet de protection en acier se cache un poussin dans son nid. C'est l'image brute d'une nature qui ne se rend pas, forcée de s'adapter et de coloniser les seuls espaces verticaux restants, coincée entre la roche et nos infrastructures.
Voilà ce que signifie pour moi documenter la faune sauvage aujourd'hui : célébrer sa beauté, sans cacher sa fragilité.
