It was recently the Onomastico, (name day) of Matteo, named after the patron saint of Salerno and I thought the right moment to publish this work.

After completing a larger triptych at the centre of the Rione Delle Fornelle, the idea to make this wall came through dialogue with one of the communities most important families, headed by Emilio, who having lost his son Matteo in a port incident, we came up with the idea of a conceptual memorial. I found a connection which could align with his important support of U.S. Salernitana 1919 through ‘Centro Storico’ one of the most important Ultra groups in the neighbourhood.

Thanks to their hospitality and access I was able to document their weekly passion and support of the club where they continue his memory.

Matteo was an important member of the Salerno Ultras (Centro Storico) the Rione delle Fornelle community, a portatore (traditional flag/saint bearer,) a fisherman (known by his fishing cap he wore to all the games,) and a port worker bringing together so many important cultural aspects of the community and therefore thousands to his funeral.

Thanks to the whole family and to the continuation of the memory of Matteo where this tribute now sits at the entrance to the neighbourhood.

Matteo Vive.

Wall 2 in Rue Surcouf, Saint-Pierre
District with

I ended up painted a second wall in Rue Surcouf, a
quiet residential street around the corner from the first.
Walking up the hill to work I noticed the subtle
combination of raw concrete and white trim on the
houses.

Thanks to KEIMFARBEN for sending me up enough Titanium white to finish this one before the rain arrived.

Thanks again Amziane Abid Ville de Boulogne-sur-Mer and David Saint-Georges

My interpretation of ‘The Folkestone boat’ from the La Côte d’Opale fête la mer for Street Art - Boulogne-sur-Mer

For the first two days I searched for a compositional reference to Manet’s ‘The Folkestone Boat, Boulogne’ 1869, the cross-Channel steam ferry. I kept coming back this icon. The boat as a symbol of the once historical ferry connection between the UK and France, Folkestone-Boulogne, Now moved to Calais, strained by border control, illegal migration, Brexit.

I found inspiration in the old postcards at the festival, the motifs of ships, faded tourism. ‘The other side’ the English coast mirrored on the horizon. Amziane Abid for the trust, the organisation, believing in his artists. David Saint Georgesphotographe
