🌿 A Walk for the Mind
On Saturday I took a slow walk around the village — camera in hand, thoughts in tow.
I’ve learned how much these quiet moments help me reset. Whether it’s watching the river, spotting tiny mushrooms, or following a winding path through the trees, it all brings a kind of calm that’s hard to find elsewhere.

If your mind feels heavy, take a moment to do something that soothes it — whatever that might be for you.

Finding this simple brown paper bag in the loft brought back memories of how I used to rely on it to manage panic attacks. It's amazing how much we grow and heal over time, and this bag is a testament to that journey. It's a powerful reminder that no matter how tough things get, resilience and persistence can lead to a brighter, more stable place. If you're struggling, just keep going — things do get better.

📍 Venice, Italy
I’ve been a bit quiet on here lately. Life’s had its ups and downs, and sometimes the best thing we can do is step away, reset, and just be.

I came across this photo from our trip to Italy last year. I don’t know the couple in the gondola, but those are my boys on the bridge — watching, laughing, soaking it all in. That moment reminded me how important it is to spend real time with the people who mean the most.

Photography helps me slow down and see the beauty in small things — it’s a quiet kind of therapy. I’m still here, and I’ll be sharing more soon 💛

Some days are heavy.
Some days the mind drags you into darker places.
But out here — standing above Fintry, looking west into the endless hills — it’s like the weight lifts, even just for a moment.
Scotland has a way of pulling you back when you feel lost.
It reminds me that even in the silence, even in the struggle, there is still beauty.
There is still light.
Photography has become more than a passion for me — it’s part of how I survive, part of how I find myself again.
This land saves me in ways I’ll never fully be able to explain.
If you ever feel lost too, I hope you find your own hills, your own sunsets — and that they bring you home to yourself.

💚

I know the long nights and cold days can be tough, but summer will be here before we know it. The dark days will just be a memory, and evenings like this will return. Hold on—brighter days are coming.

Spring is on its way, and with it comes brighter days and longer evenings. Getting out in nature always helps to clear my mind, especially in places like this—looking south towards the Mull of Kintyre from Tangy Beach. The fresh air, the sound of the waves, and the changing light remind me to slow down and appreciate the moment. Here’s to more days like this. 🌿🌊

This time of year can feel dark and heavy, and it’s easy to forget the beauty and warmth that spring brings. Looking back at my trip to Venice last spring and strolling along the Grand Canal reminds me that brighter days will come again—even when it feels far away.

Did you know the Grand Canal, Venice’s main waterway, has been a vital hub for trade and culture since the 9th century? Its iconic S-shaped curve is lined with stunning palaces, many of which were built between the 13th and 18th centuries. The history and beauty of this place always leave me in awe.

Living with depression can make this season even harder, but I want to remind anyone else struggling: you’re not alone, and better days will return. Be kind to yourself and take things one step at a time.

Let’s remember to cherish the small joys and hold onto hope, even when it’s cold and snowy outside. 🌷🌞

"Hey everyone, I know it’s been a while since I last posted—thank you for your patience! 🌄 My passion for capturing Scotland's stunning landscapes hasn’t faded, but I’ve been spending a lot of time working in construction lately. 🛠️ This hand has been hard at work, but my heart is still in photography and the Highlands.

I wanted to remind everyone how important it is to find balance. Whether it’s taking a moment to appreciate nature or checking in with your mental health, small steps can make a big difference. 💙

There's a tug deep inside—a craving for the outdoors. The mind, heavy with tasks, drifts to thoughts of cool breezes and sunlit trails. The exhaustion from work only intensifies the desire to escape, to breathe in the fresh air, and to feel the ground underfoot. The stress of the day begs for the simplicity of nature, where the only task is to wander and let the worries melt away. It's a pull toward freedom, where the open sky is the antidote to the fatigue of the grind.

Reflection, 30 years on from that weekend in May.

In a quiet leafy spot beside the famous Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari which cascades around the old town of Imola. There’s a memorial to one of the greatest drivers ever to have raced. Brazilian Ayrton Senna was a hero to me as an 18-year-old petrolhead. I had his posters on my wall, I had amassed a pile of VHS tapes recording his exploits with McLaren and huge battles with Alain Prost, Murray Walkers shrieking telephone commentary voice crackling over everything. I got to see him in person race at Monte Carlo grand prix as he held off the flying Nigel Mansell in a titanic battle around the tight streets of Monaco. It was different then, I even got to help unload the race tyres with a McLaren mechanic.
So last week my older boys and I went on our way to see a Formula E race in Misano, there was no way we could miss a chance to see this famous circuit.
