🇮🇹 Faro? Albero di metallo? Nave perduta? L’edificio-scultura progettato da Frank O. Gehry innalza quattro torri dalle sfaccettature ondulate e argentee, sostenute da una spina dorsale color pietra. L’architetto americano si è ispirato alle scogliere delle Alpilles, alle rocce fantasmagoriche di Baux-de-Provence e al pennello di Van Gogh. I mattoni in acciaio inossidabile sono progettati per catturare la luce mutevole. Gli spazi vuoti nel vetro collegano i diversi livelli. La rotonda di vetro di 54 metri di diametro che sovrasta il piano terra ricorda l’Arena di Arles, uno dei siti romani più belli della Francia.
🇬🇧 A lighthouse? A metal tree? A lost ship? The sculptural building designed by Frank O. Gehry rises up as four towers with undulating, silvery facets, supported by a stone-colored spine. The American architect drew inspiration from the cliffs of the Alpilles, the fantastical rock formations of Les Baux-de-Provence, and the brushwork of Van Gogh. The stainless steel panels are designed to capture the shifting light. Voids in the glass connect the various levels. The glass rotunda—54 meters in diameter—that sits above the ground floor evokes the Arles Arena, one of France’s finest Roman sites.
