Still Running There is something beautiful about the water in Rome. Not simply that it runs— but that it belongs to everyone. Turn a corner and there it is. Cold. Clean. Waiting. No entrance fee. No reservation. No one asking who you are or where you came from. Just hold out your bottle. Hold out your hands. Drink. For centuries, Rome has understood that some things are too necessary to belong only to those who can afford them. So the water flows freely. For the wealthy. For the poor. For the person born here and the stranger who arrived this morning. For anyone thirsty enough to stop. There is something almost radical about that now— something so simple being given without asking anything in return. And maybe water has always understood what we keep forgetting. That what gives life was never meant to be hoarded. That there is enough to share. That we were meant to give something along the way. And that no matter how long we have stayed in one place— we were never meant to remain where we are. Drink what you need. Give what you can. And when it is time— keep running. Photos by:☕️✈️📸

There’s the Rome everyone comes to see. And then there’s this one. The one between the monuments. Down streets that don’t lead anywhere famous. Past windows left open, laundry lines, faded walls, and buildings wearing every year they’ve survived. Here, nothing seems particularly concerned with being beautiful. And somehow, it is. The paint is peeling. The stone is stained. Someone wrote their name across a bridge that was standing long before they were born. People walk home. Lights come on. The sun catches a wall for a few minutes and turns an ordinary street into something worth remembering. Maybe that’s why I keep wandering away from the places I’m supposed to see. Because sometimes the best part of a city is everything between the reasons you came. Photos by: ☕️✈️📸

The Edge of the Map

Some places feel temporary.

Not because they’re fragile—
but because they seem impossible.

Buildings stacked against cliffs.
Homes balanced above the sea.
Narrow streets winding through stone
that looks older than memory.

You stand there wondering
how anyone ever decided to stay.

Yet they did.

Generation after generation,
they painted the walls,
hung laundry from windows,
rang church bells,
opened their doors each morning
to the same restless water.

The sea keeps pushing.

The cliffs keep standing.

And somehow,
between the two,
people built a life.

Maybe that’s what makes places like this
feel so extraordinary.

Not the landscape.

The fact that people learned
how to belong to it.

Resilience

The sea has spent centuries trying to reclaim this place.

Storm after storm.
Wave after wave.

Yet somehow,
the village remains.

Not because the water stopped trying.

But because the people never stopped rebuilding.

There’s something beautiful about that.

The reminder that resilience isn’t about winning the fight.

Sometimes it’s simply deciding to still be here tomorrow.

Been Here and Somewhere Else

Travel is often sold as movement.

Flights.
Trains.
Maps covered in lines and destinations.

But some places make you stop.

Not because there’s something you need to see.

Because there’s nothing you need to do.

Outside, the streets were full.

Voices bouncing between buildings.
Shops opening their doors.
People searching for dinner,
for souvenirs,
for the next thing.

And then a few steps away—

silence.

Stone columns.
Empty benches.
Light falling through old windows.

The same village.

The same afternoon.

Two completely different worlds.

I think that’s what I remember most about places like this.

Not the landmarks.

Not the views.

But the feeling of crossing an invisible line between noise and quiet.

Between rushing through a place—

and finally being present in it.

Where the Land Refuses to Let Go

There are places where the sea meets the shore.

And then there are places like this—

where the mountains seem unwilling
to surrender even a single inch.

Cliffs rise straight from the water.
Stone battles waves.
Wind carves its signature into everything.

For centuries,
people looked at this coastline
and somehow decided to build here anyway.

Not because it was easy.

But because some places are worth the struggle.

Worth the storms.
Worth the steep paths.
Worth the uncertainty.

Standing here,
watching waves throw themselves against the rocks,
it’s easy to understand why.

Beauty isn’t always found
in the calmest places.

It lives where things endure.

Where stone withstands the sea.

And where the sea never stops trying.

The Rooftops Between

Most people come to Cinque Terre
for the cliffs.

For the sea.
For the postcard views.

But from above,
something else catches my eye.

The rooftops.

Hundreds of them,
stacked together
between the mountains and the water.

Each one belonging to a life
I’ll never know.

Someone is making coffee beneath one roof.

Someone is hanging laundry.

Someone is opening a window
to let in the morning air.

Someone is looking out at this same view
and barely noticing it anymore.

And maybe that’s what fascinates me.

Because while visitors come here
searching for beauty,

people are busy living inside it.

The rooftops don’t tell the story
of a destination.

They tell the story
of a home.

Small Things

Not every piece of art hangs in a museum.

Sometimes it hangs quietly on a café wall, built from driftwood,
old fishing net,
a handful of hearts,
and someone’s imagination.

The kind of thing you almost walk past.

But if you stop,
really stop,
you realize someone took ordinary things
the sea left behind
and turned them into something worth looking at.

Maybe that’s what travel teaches best.

Beauty isn’t always found in the grand cathedrals,
the famous viewpoints,
or the places marked on a map.

Sometimes it’s hidden in the small things,
waiting for someone to notice.

Down the Side Streets

The famous views are easy to find.

Just follow the crowd.

But the places I remember most
are usually hidden a few turns away—

down the staircases worn smooth by generations,
through alleys where laundry hangs above the street,
past old stone walls,
faded shutters,
and doorways that have watched centuries come and go.

No grand landmark.

No line of tourists.

Just everyday life unfolding inside a place the world only knows from postcards.

Sometimes travel isn’t about finding the destination.

It’s about getting lost long enough
to discover the soul of it.
