❄️ A cold night on Passo Rolle, scouting in the dark with the Pale di San Martino watching over the scene.

✨ I came here chasing a starry sky. The conditions were perfect, clear air, no haze, everything aligned… except the moon. It was too bright, too present, washing away the stars before they could even appear. I knew it might happen, still, I had to try.

📚 Sometimes photography is also this, waiting, testing, failing, and learning something for the next time.

🥶 And yes… it was freezing cold.

Blue hour in the Dolomites, one of those moments where everything slows down.

From above, the winter landscape of Lake Molveno reveals its quiet geometry, winding roads, frozen edges and layered mountains fading into the distance, while the last warm light slips beyond the horizon.

This palette has always felt like home to me.

Hard rock, soft clouds and a reminder I always come back to.

This frame is all about light and observation. The side light carving the Dolomite wall, the clouds slicing through the peak, the natural depth created by layers of rock.

Nothing exotic in the gear, though.
This was shot on my iPhone at 5x.

Because in the end, it’s rarely about having the “right” camera. It’s about seeing the moment, understanding the light, and never stopping experimenting.

After months spent telling a difficult story (https://youtu.be/eO2RMs5_OxQ), I felt the need to come back to something quieter.

A winter sunset on Passo Rolle, in the heart of the Dolomites. No urgency, no message to push, just light, silence, and space to breathe.

Sometimes stepping away isn’t absence. It’s preparation.

📍 Passo Rolle, Trentino-Alto Adige
👇 Have you ever experienced the Dolomites in winter?

One of my favorite viewpoints on the Sentiero Azzurro—Vernazza spilling down the cliff, framed by sunlit terraces and a turquoise cove 🌿📷. I scouted the composition with my phone, found the spot, then pulled the camera out once I was steady.

📸 Pro Tip: Use your smartphone to test focal lengths and framing; keep gear in the backpack until you’ve found a safe spot—better pictures and no slips.

A midday gamble that paid off—Portovenere’s Church of San Pietro bathed in summer sun 🌞⛪. I framed the shot so the rocky outcrops guide your eye straight to the church, with a blur of leaves up front for extra depth.

📸 Pro Tip: Don’t shy away from shooting at noon—use strong shadows and natural lines to add drama and guide your composition.

👇 Have you ever tackled a shoot outside the “magic hours”?

One of my last-minute favorites from this May’s Cinque Terre trip—snapped at night in Manarola after a day of iPhone shots 🌊📱. I switched to my Canon 5DS R for this one, merging five vertical frames into a massive panorama that captures every glowing window and cliff detail.

📸 Pro Tip: Shoot multiple overlapping frames and stitch them for insane resolution and sharpness—perfect for large prints or zoom‑in crops.

👇 Ever tried a multi‑shot panorama to push your image quality further?

One of my favorite “backup” shots: when harsh light kills your beach shots, I dive into the woods and let these sunbeams do the work 🌲✨. Here, mist and midday sun combine in the pine forest to turn ordinary undergrowth into a stage—spotlighting dewy leaves in a shaft of light.

📸 Pro Tip: Don’t wait for dawn or dusk—seek out filtrating rays any time of day under a forest canopy. Even harsh midday light can become magical when it streams through the trees.

👇 Do you have a favorite forest “secret spot” for shooting rays?

One of my favorite blue-hour discoveries: this lone concrete hut standing on stilts as the sky shifts from rose to violet 🌸💜.
I barely touched the edit—just dialed the WB for true blue-hour tones and let nature’s colors do the talking.
📸 Pro Tip: Shoot during blue hour and slightly cool your white balance to enhance those dreamy pastel gradients.

👇 What’s your go-to time for capturing moody skies?
