On a chilly English May morning, wrapped in jackets and scarves during a long family weekend in Sussex, we left my mum and Mina in the warm confines of the car and trudged the dog through the fog, from Seaford up to the iconic Seaford Head, an 86m chalk cliff that helps give Southern England its famous white cliffs formation.
Camera in hand, I was struck by the contrast of the green grass, white chalk and blue of the sea, lost in the mist. I tried a few different angles to try to capture the almost dream-like disappearance of the world beyond, almost like the cliffs marked the edge of the Earth, and had the fortune to catch the seabird in the centre, wheeling away from a perch, giving the whole image a bit of scale.
There are few more stirring sites to an Englishman than seeing the white cliffs of Blighty, especially on a cold and foggy May day; quintessential British weather framing an iconic British view!
