It's amazing what you can do with an ancient DSLR and a total of 12s

Here's my image of C/2023 A3 I captured over the weekend. Total of 12x1s integration time taken with a Canon 1200d and an Askar FMA 135 all untracked

For my first time imaging and processing a comet I'm very happy with how it came out :)

We also got to see it with the naked eye which was incredible

Here's a test run I did of the bat nebula using my new reducer/flattener for my 130 Photoline and 6200MM Pro

Just 6 x 240s in Ha & OIII

New telescope on the Moon, the Artemis enabled STellar Imager would give close-up views of stars and black holes. But how would it work?

Hey everyone, it's been a while since I posted so here's a recent .live image from earlier this week of RCW 120 :)

This 2 pane mosaic (actually just one image split in 2) is the Lambda Orionis Ring, a HII region of space that produces high-mass stars. Located in Orion, this region is the closest region of it's type to our solar system.

The full resolution version of this image is insane. The clarity that dark skies and excellent Takahashi optics get at TelescopeLive is awesome.

Trying something a little different with the background here - "natural" sky colour added instead of the usual black nothingness of space

Great seeing today which really made the sharper features pop today

LDN 1217 - Wolf's Cave dark nebula in Cepheus

LDN stands for Lynds' Dark Nebula - a type of dark nebula that can only be observed in red and blue giving them these copper-like colouring.

The LDN catalogue is one of my favourites to observe from as they are always full of weird and interesting nebulae!

Bet you didn't know this nebula was hiding in Orion - probably the most imaged nebula!

NGC 1788 is a tiny reflection nebula in Orion, this first processing run is lacking any hydrogen-alpha which should help to accentuate the red nebulosity. Some more integration time will help this nebula pop when I re-process it further down the line.

This interstellar cloud has the mass of 200,000 suns!

I'll be sharing a 2 panel post later next week as this nebula is much more impressive when you take a step back and see the whole thing!
