The Church of the Blessed Virgin of the Assumption in Bannari, Villa Verde, is among the winning projects of the Inarch Sardegna 2026 Awards, presented during the ceremony held yesterday in Cagliari.

This recognition comes alongside the project’s recent feature in THISISPAPER , which dedicated an article to the church and the architects’ work, illustrated through our photographs.

Designed by Carlo Atzeni, Silvia Mocci, Maurizio Manias and Franceschino Serra, the project transforms the wall and its openings into architectural elements that establish a sensitive dialogue with the surrounding territory and its community.

Published by Magonza Editore, Ereditare il Presente brings together the findings of an extensive research project promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Fondazione Scuola dei beni e delle attività culturali, dedicated to the study, preservation and promotion of Italy’s architectural heritage from the post-war period to the present day.

Through scholarly contributions, regional studies and an extensive photographic collection, the publication offers an overview of modern and contemporary architectural heritage, from well-known works to lesser-known buildings that hold significance for the history and identity of their territories.

We contributed to the project by carrying out the photographic survey of the architectural works documented in Sardinia. Through overall views and architectural details, we photographed each building with the aim of capturing its distinctive features, formal qualities and architectural value.

In 2021, during the first edition of Artist Residency • Sardinia island, Italy , an international artist residency programme in Milis, Sardinia, Californian artist Mark Hewko created A Nuraghe Odissey, an environmental art installation born from the encounter between contemporary artistic practice and the local territory.

Through a visual language of geometric forms, abstract compositions and colour, Hewko transformed a building in Milis’ public park into a work of public art, introducing a new visual presence into the town’s everyday landscape.

The installation reflects Nocefresca’s commitment to fostering dialogue between international artists, local communities and Sardinia’s cultural heritage.

Designed by essequadro | p lighting + architecture , the new panoramic point at the Museo della Giara in Gesturi creates a direct relationship between the exhibition spaces and the surrounding plateau.

A raised walkway, a viewing telescope and a system of interpretive signs guide the eye across the landscape, turning observation into part of the museum experience.

Here, the landscape is not a backdrop, but part of the heritage itself: a system shaped by geography, biodiversity, history and human presence.

Construction sites have a life of their own: brief, provisional, continuously rewritten.

Scaffolding, unfinished walls, tools and temporary structures reshape space from one day to the next, producing configurations that will disappear as the building takes form.

In our ongoing work for Tomasi Edilizia, we look at the construction site not only as a sequence of phases, but as a temporary architecture in itself — a space suspended between transformation, use and waiting.

Two recent projects photographed for FPA explore how learning spaces can remain flexible, permeable and connected to their surroundings.

At the early childhood centre in Uta, textile doors by Dooor create soft, movable boundaries, allowing the rooms to adapt to different activities.

At the new nursery in Stintino, the building settles within the Mediterranean vegetation, while translucent polycarbonate panels by PolyPiù Srl replace conventional walls, filtering daylight into the interiors.

Team: FPA, Rosa Manca, , Francesca Sanna
