Lo Sri Lanka sta diventando ormai una seconda casa, e presto tornerò per continuare il mio progetto a lungo termine sul conflitto uomo-elefante. Per me non si tratta solo di documentare una crisi, mi interessa di più comprendere il delicato e spesso straziante equilibrio della coesistenza tra la nostra specie e la loro. E' un progetto che vuole raccontare come le comunità vivano in prima linea in questa lotta, ma anche i giganti millenari che cercano di sopravvivere in un mondo che cambia rapidamente.

I recently had the privilege of visiting Piplantri, Rajasthan, and I spent time in the local schools of this community where a tree is planted for every newborn girl, a practice started to discourage gender discrimination and support families after the loss of a village leader’s daughter

During my time there I made portraits with the girls in the school context, then developed a separate process of printing those images directly onto leaves from species found in the surrounding area.

The work required multiple tests and many, many failed attempts! These are some of the final results from that process.
