An endless love for the mountains 🏔️ at the airport boarding my flight to my biggest life dream location - Nepal! 🥹

I have wanted to visit this country and hike through the majestic himalayas for so, so long. Pinching myself I get to do this, all while hosting a group of amazing women and teaching all I know about photography 🫶

We’ll be starting in Kathmandu before making our way to Pokhara and trekking 9 days for the Annapurna Base Camp trail. 13 rolls of film, my Canon and Sony (yep, kinda going heavy).

Thought I might share some of my absolute favourite photos of the mountains captured over the past few years. Mostly on film, some digital. My happy place. My place of peace and inspiration. Where my heart sings and creativity flows.

Late summer hiking in Switzerland, on 35mm film 🎞️ 🌞

Some frames from our final hike in Gimmelwald on our Photography and Hiking workshop in Switzerland this year! Treated to some fairytale clouds floating up from the valley, making this dramatic depth of light.

Often on the road travelling, I find myself switching frequently between working on my phone and laptop. From planning, to bulk editing, to delivery and curating for social media – choosing software that integrates together and reduces friction has genuinely made my workflow and life easier. It took me a while of trial and error before finding a workflow system that works for me, letting me spend more time outside and less time on screens.

1. Notion

If you haven’t heard of Notion, it will change your life I swear 😄 This software is a highly customisable database and has been my second brain for almost 10 years since university days. I use it to plan not just photography shoots, but pretty much most of my life. All my shoot planning, travel planning, social media planning, bookmarks, ideas, notes, best restaurant ratings… you name it. All of it lives here in some way, I even wrote this post in Notion on my laptop and then just copy / pasted to IG (I really hate writing so much on my phone)

2. VSCO Canvas

I love moodboarding and visually organising a shoot, with VSCO Canvas I can create moodboards and shoot plans. Integrating into the VSCO platform, you can search through photographers and images to add to your moodboards. If you want to learn more, scroll back in my feed for VSCO Canvas specific post! :)

3. Komoot

I get asked often how I find locations - the answer is me spending waaaay too long exploring Komoot maps. Sometimes searching for specific places I have seen in guide books, blogs or on IG, clicking around for mountain huts and lakes, finding existing routes or piecing together my own. It’s an amazing resource for outdoor exploring - but I do recommend cross checking your ideas with other official resources and not blindly following!

Little full moon portrait session with Sharon on our Switzerland workshop this year, all the way up at 3,000m at Cabane Becs de Bosson.

As we watched the sun set from one way, the full moon was rising behind us over the mountains. Truly such a magnificent view from this hut! Loved capturing the softness of the moment - so rare to have the mountains so well lit from the moon it almost felt like a silver sun. Last year we had misty, cloudy conditions which gave much moodier lighting.

Early morning light up at Dreizinnenhütte ✨

Easily one of the most popular hut hikes in the Dolomites / Alps / World? And for a completely understandable reason - it is so so beautiful and jaw dropping here. Even after visiting several times, it still takes my breath away.

However, I also see it as the most direct and clear example of Instagram causing a place to be overrun. I won’t say the word ruined here - because it truly is beautiful. But being here has a vastly different experience than what it was several years ago. The iconic sunrise spot had a lineup of hundreds to take the single shot (5 years ago we had it almost to ourselves). The trails were busy before sunrise, and by the time the race I was shooting was finished around 2pm there was literally thousands of people hiking between Lavaredo and Dreizinnen. It was insanity.

I think it’s a unique combination of ease of access (there is a road almost directly up here…), over sharing on IG, and tourism companies selling bus loads of people to get here. So it’s not all the fault of us photographers.

However it does make me hesitate to post these photos now because I feel like I add to this “instagram tourism” boom by sharing them. Many places I don’t share the geotag because I am conscious of sending people to spots that do not have infrastructure (I’m also not a personal travel agent). But it’s also the responsibility of a tourist to decide to go to “the spot” for “the shot” or perhaps try and be more conscious and hike a little further, go to a town less visited.

Anyway. Lots of thoughts about over tourism in the Dolomites - it’s a genuine reason I don’t visit as often and the reason we moved our workshops away from the area.

watching the evening Autumn light change 🍂✨

Trying to get enjoying these last few weeks of bright colour and sunny warmth before the cold sets in. The time of year when the sun still has a bite during the day, but in the shade is freezing so you have no idea what to wear. But in general it has still been so warm this autumn, still hiking in a tshirt and shorts.

Some iPhone photos from a day trip to Chamonix a few days ago - a day that was meant to be clear, then turned annoyingly cloudy all day, before finally giving this sunset which I almost missed. Always a reminder to stick around to the end, the mountains have other ideas to test your patience 🫶

As much as I am a summer baby and thrive in the heat, Autumn will always have my heart for the most beautiful season of the year. I am left speechless every time I witness these changes of colours, either in the alpine or the forest 🍂

I was in Australia for most of Autumn in the alps last year, so I missed the window of colour. I was a little sad about it, but seeing family made up for it 😄 Before I left we got in this little mountain escape with friends. Some videos and film photos from that adventure, plus some videos from my hike on the weekend too - the start of Autumn 2026.

Unrelated side note: when I was hiking on Saturday I said to myself internally: “ah it’s the most wonderful time of the year”. And then, of course, the christmas jingle from andy williams started playing in my head and it stayed there for the rest of the hike… and it’s still there now. 2 days later. An unwelcome ear worm. 🫠 sigh.
