Nature is therapy 💚
Our phones have such a grip on our attention, sucking us into the vortex of information and ripping us away from the present moment. We have forgotten what it’s like to feel bored. To allow space for our minds to wander, to process, to create connections and wait. I find myself reaching for my phone or opening Instagram by muscle memory when I have a second of “waiting” then catch myself thinking “why the f**k am I here?” while staring at an open tab of some platform I don’t need to be consuming.
Putting away my phone and going hiking into nature, ideally without reception and even better solo is the surest way for me to detox and reset. I try do an overnight solo hut or camping hiking trip at least once a season. It helps me to reset, to open my mind, feel boredom and the simple rhythm of my own two feet. So quickly creative juices start to flow. My soul is alight again.
It doesn’t need to be a huge, grand trip each time. On days that I am hitting a wall mentally (usually a day or two before my period) I just take a bus up into the forest and then walk home. Or I go for a small stroll around the block if that’s all I can manage. Sometimes I don’t take my phone. Simple presence being in nature. Trying my hardest to break the muscle memory reflex to be consuming and constantly “doing”.
Less screen, more green. Nature is therapy. Give your mind a chance to rest too 💚
