C4: 40 years today.

This photograph is emblematic, because it captures our entire story: our origins and our evolution.

C4 was founded in 1986 with the design and production of monocoque carbon-fiber bicycle frames and forks.
We were the first in the world to do so, opening a new era in cycling.

In the early 1990s, we did it again—once more the first in the world—by bringing carbon fiber into freediving fins.
Here too, we created an entirely new sector, demonstrating a technical vision unconstrained by limits or predefined patterns.

In this image there is a young Umberto Pelizzari, the first athlete to set world records using our carbon-fiber blades.
His first constant-weight world record with C4 carbon blades was achieved on the Island of Elba on October 3, 1991, and from that moment on, he never stopped using them throughout his record-breaking career.

In this now vintage photo, he is pictured with a C4 bicycle from that era.
Two different worlds that met, yet sharing one single soul: innovation, research, and performance.

Over the years, we chose to focus entirely on freediving, leaving cycling behind.
A clear decision that defines who we are and who we want to be today.

✨ Throughout 2026, we will be sharing our story: what we have built over 40 years, the key milestones, and also the future projects currently taking shape.
