There is a different rhythm to discovering Srinagar from the water—gliding quietly through its narrow canals, with poplars and willows closing in around you and the landscape reflected almost perfectly on the still surface.

For a moment, the city feels far away. Just the boat, the water and a winding passage through Kashmir.

There is something wonderfully intimate about a Kashmiri houseboat. The lace curtains open like a quiet invitation, revealing a world of carved walnut wood, carpets, flowers and warm afternoon light.
On Dal Lake, even a doorway can feel like a passage into another time—a reminder of the craftsmanship, hospitality and slow rhythm that make Kashmir so distinctive.

During winter mornings In Srinagar, life often moves at the pace of the water—quietly, patiently and without hurry.

A lone fisherman, a still lake and a line disappearing into the morning haze. Some photographs are less about what is happening and more about the silence surrounding them.

Somewhere on the road from Srinagar to Pahalgam, I came across these kids completely lost in a game of Phittu.

Believed to have originated in the Indian subcontinent, this traditional game has been played for generations. Known by different names—Lagori, Satoliya or Seven Stones—the game is simple: knock down a stack of stones, rebuild it, and dodge the other team’s throws.

An open field, a few stones and a group of friends—that’s all it takes to make a childhood memory.
