Exposure Compensation: Camera reads the tone of the image averaging white and black at 18% grey. So when shooting an image which has a darker tonality a negative compensation is required and for a brighter one positive compensation, as it will try to average out the exposure. An example of negative compensation.

Blue Hour: It's the time between the darkness of night and dusk/dawn. It lasts around five minutes and vanishes with the darkness. The images shot during this period have a cool appearance and soft light evenly spread all around. So, it is always advantageous to catch this light.

Blue Bridge: This image is shot during the evening blue hour after sunset. It has a crimson highlight at the left corner as sun has moved down and also has an overall blue sky.The long exposure smoothens the water surface and produces a stark contrast against rough rocks and bright cityscape.
