Across from the sacred ghats of Varanasi, the riverbank tells another story—one of neglect, mortality, and the environmental burden carried by the Ganga.
*Artist Statement:
This photograph documents the condition of the Ganga riverbanks opposite the ghats of Varanasi. Through this image, I seek to highlight the quieter, often overlooked realities that exist alongside places of deep spiritual significance. The discarded remains and barren landscape reflect the intersection of faith, environment, and human impact. As a documentary street photographer, my intention is to encourage viewers to pause, observe, and reflect on the fragile balance between cultural traditions and ecological responsibility.
