Zainageer Canal Near Bandipora (Kashmir)

This canal, originating as a sublet of Nallah Madhumatti at Sonarwani in Bandipora district, serves as the most important source of irrigation in the entire Zainageer belt (Sopore). Further sublets of Zainageer canal start from Botengu village spreads across the entire region.

Zainageer town and Zainageer canal were founded by Sultan Zainulabdin. According to some, the canal was originally built by Suyya, Zainulabdin carried repairs only.
