DC Kulgam inaugurates Aadhaar Seva Kendra at Kulgam to streamline Aadhaar services delivery

KULGAM, AUGUST 18: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam today inaugurated a dedicated Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) at the Kulgam, near Grid Station.

Seva Kendra has been established by UIDAI to provide hassle-free, reliable, and transparent Aadhaar-related services to residents of Kulgam.

The Kendra will function as a one-stop facility for all Aadhaar services including new aadhaar enrolment, mandatory biometric updates, demographic updates like name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number, and email ID corrections, biometric updates like fingerprints, iris, and photograph updates, Aadhaar print / re-print, Aadhaar download and e-Aadhaar, lock / unlock biometrics and Aadhaar authentication Services and on-spot grievance redressal.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said the inauguration of the ASK is aimed at easing access to Aadhaar services and reducing the burden on Common Service Centres and banks in the district while also ensuring service delivery at approved affordable rates.

The new Kendra shall be handy in improving accessibility, ensure faster service delivery, enhanced transparency, support to welfare delivery and promoting digital empowerment, the DC added.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shoaib Mohammad Khan, Project Manager, UIDAI; Peer Mubashir Shah, Cluster Manager, J&K; and Danishwar Hamid, Operations Manager, Kulgam, besides other officials and concerned persons.

Streetlights Fail Within Two Months in Khanpora, Yaripora, Residents Seek Immediate Repairs

Non-functional lights leave stretches poorly illuminated at night; locals urge authorities to fix faults and ensure quality checks

Kulgam, Aug 18 (JKNS): Streetlights installed recently in the Khanpora, Yaripora area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district, have reportedly stopped functioning within just two months, leaving residents concerned over poor visibility during night hours and prompting calls for immediate intervention by the concerned authorities.

Residents told news agency JKNS that the newly installed lights were expected to improve illumination and provide safer movement after dark, but several of them have reportedly become non-functional shortly after installation.

“It is disappointing that streetlights installed only a couple of months ago have already stopped working. The purpose of the project is defeated if the lights remain non-functional,” a local resident said.

Another resident urged the concerned department to inspect the entire stretch and identify the cause of the failure.

“We request the authorities to repair the lights at the earliest and ensure that the issue does not recur. There should also be proper quality checks of such installations,” the resident said.

Locals said functioning streetlights are particularly important for pedestrians, commuters and residents travelling during evening and night hours, and appealed to the concerned authorities to take prompt corrective measures.

Residents also urged the authorities to ascertain whether the lights require replacement or repairs and ensure that the agency responsible for their installation addresses the shortcomings.

The locals have sought early restoration of the streetlights and regular maintenance to ensure uninterrupted illumination in the area. (JKNS)

All Passengers Escape Unhurt As Vehicle Catches Fire In Banihal

Following the accident, the vehicle caught fire and was completely engulfed in flames.

Officials told GNS that all occupants managed to escape safely from the vehicle. No injuries have been reported in the incident.

Six IEDs, Ammo Recovered After Forces Strike Terror Hideout In Poonch

Poonch, Aug 15(GNS): A major tragedy was averted after security forces on Saturday busted a terror hideout in Draba area of Surankote sector in Poonch district and recovered a cache of explosives and ammunition.

Officials told GNS that a joint operation was launched by 16 RR along with SOG Bufliaz and 38 Bn CRPF in Draba following specific inputs.

During the operation, forces recovered one gamla-type IED, one gool-type IED, four small IEDs, one Motorola wireless set, and seven AK-47 rounds.
