The middle lands.
Many years ago, when I first saw a youtube video of Spiti, I decided, that one day I will visit this place. It looked nothing I've visited or have believed to exist in India. After 5-6 years, this year, I visited the land of Spiti and experienced a totally different terrain. Sands like Gold grains, Mountains beyond the imagination with amber like colours and patterns all over. I know it's not a big deal, but for me, this feels like a dream that isn't a dream anymore, but a reality.
Fell in love with the word 'Spiti'.

More than 200 million years ago, Langza and the surrounding villages of Spiti were submerged under the ancient Tethys ocean. But 50 million years ago, the ocean disappeared when the Himalayan range and the Tibetan plateau rose due to the collision between Laurasia and Gondwana.

Quto Minar, the tallest stone tower in India was conceived by Qutbud-Din Aibak (A.D. 1192-1210) as a tower of victory attached to Quwwat-ut Islam Mosque. Qutbud-Din completed the first storey while the second, third and fourth were completed by his successor Iltutmish (A.D. 1211-36). When it was damaged by lighting in 1326 and 1368, the fourth storey was dismantled and reconstructed by Firuz Tughlug (A.D. 13 51-
88) with an additional storey, making it a five storied structure. Later on in 1503 Sikandar Lodi ( A.D. 1489-1517) also carried out stone restorations in the upper stories.
With a height of 238 ft and 379 steps, although it is the highest stone tower in india, it would be a pleasant surprise to know that its height is 5 ft less than that of the Taj Mahal (243ft).
