Red-crowned crane (also called the Japanese crane).
In Nepali, it is commonly referred to as:
👉 लालटाउके सारस (Laltauke Saras).

The Red-crowned crane has inspired one of the most touching stories in East Asia.
One of the most famous stories is about a young girl named Sadako Sasaki. After the Hiroshima atomic bombing, she became ill due to radiation. Hoping to recover, she began folding paper cranes, believing in the legend of the red-crowned crane.

Day after day, she folded them—small, delicate symbols of hope. Though she didn’t finish all 1,000 cranes before she passed away, her story spread across the world. Today, she is remembered as a symbol of peace, and people still fold cranes in her honor.

In many cultures, especially in Japan and parts of Asia, the red-crowned crane symbolizes:

1.Longevity
2.Faithfulness (they mate for life)
3.Peace and hope

So when you see this bird standing quietly in the water, like this in picture below, it’s not just a beautiful creature—it carries centuries of meaning, stories, and human wishes for a better world.

Left bird: Red-vented Bulbul. जुरेली
Right bird: Eurasian Collared Dove.फाख्ता

(Poetic Mood)
As the sun sets, the energetic bulbul meets the calm dove—
one represents restless curiosity, the other quiet peace.
For a brief moment, their worlds intersect on a single wire,
reminding us how different personalities can share the same space.
