For generations, the people of Kalpa have celebrated Raulane to mark the end of winter. The dancers are adorned in 50 Lakh rupees worth of antique family heirlooms, but their faces remain completely hidden. Why? Because the ‘Sauni’ (holy spirits) are watching.

If the spirits recognize who is dancing beneath the gold and silver, the consequences could be dire. That is where the Zannpundulu—the village's masked tricksters—come in to save the day.
