A recent trip to Sisters Island (Singapore Islands) let us have the opportunity to observe some coral reefs at low tide and also these very old rock formations. So proud of Sg for all their conservation work.

Day 2
Session 1: Spotting of Mahi
Notice how she is sitting in the spot that later Ganesh came and sat. If you are not sure of what I am talking about please scroll up one post and see how her father (as per what they have traced as lineage) Ganesh was rolling about in the spot as well.
Both her exit points had safari keeps waiting but she went out of zone 3 giving the jeeps and photographers on that side a time of their life clicking away.
The best is yet to come. I’ll share my best shot of her tomorrow. Yes good things come for those who wait. Meanwhile Happy Monday to all of you lovely people

Ganesh: This was Day 2 last safari with none other than Hemraj ji being our guide.
We had heard the ques from the deer and come to this spot near the grass and were waiting there. As we were told we might see Ganesh for we had seen his fresh paw prints come this way. We waited and then after a while we drove off and thanks to that got to spot his leopard and get his awesome leopard shot.
We came back here in the spot where we now stood and took the shot and were told Ganesh was sitting there in the grass patch right next to where we had been and had walked out from there and gone and sat where we see him now in this image. Strangely he sits in the same place where his daughter Mahi sat in the morning. My lens has restrictions but to see better shots of Ganesh do head to ’s profile.

Will share Mahi’s pictures later this evening, stay tuned

The Indian Sloth Bear (ISB)

We were lucky to have 5 sightings over two days and 4 safaris. My childhood memory of these bears is a little cruel where a captured ISB was brought around the neighborhood and made to dance. Little did I know that they had piercings through the nose and the tugging of that caused them pain and hence they were forced to dance and walk due to the pain.

However even then I found them as the most cute adorable Rolly Polly creatures and seeing them like this in the wild only made me want to cuddle them some more. However they are quite ferocious and do kill humans. I did enjoy watching them scratch their backs against a bark of a tree, and chase after ant holes. Supposed to be naturally shy these ones pretty much were comfortable with us being around. Really felt like see Bhalo from Jungle Book

Some of the other birds we captured …..Yup I am saving the best for last. So stick on till the end.

This beautiful step well called the Chand Bowri built in the 8th century by Raja Chanda a Rajput king. Along with it is the summer palace where he stayed when he stayed in the summer months. It has 3500 steps. It has three underground tunnels leading to different locations. Along with it stands the Harshat Mata devi temple. The sculpture all done with limestone both for the temple and the bowri was destroyed and mutilated by Mohammad Ghazni when he was on his rampage of destroying India. The temple has a huge blue sapphire idol which he looted as well.
What a lovely reminder of our mathematically accurate past. The divine geometry inspired the architecture.
reminded me of my IHC days.

Thank you Pushkar for an amazing two days. From the Brahma sarovar to the Savitri mandir on the hill via cable car where in the late 1800’s Ma Sarada had climbed and meditated. A jeep safari on the dunes from where we saw the sunset amidst camels. The last frame is my favorite. A sight just opposite our hotel gate was this congregation every morning.
