One from my archive, clicked almost 8 years back.
A striking, hyper-active insectivore from Jungles of Western Ghats 🇮🇳
Black Naped Monarch ❤️💙🤍
They are known for their brilliant plumage, these birds are widespread across South and Southeast Asia, easily spotted in well-wooded gardens and forests in the Indian subcontinent. Adult males are striking pale azure blue with a velvety black patch on the back of the head and a thin, sleek black “necklace”. As flycatchers, they rarely stay still. They are famous for their quick, acrobatic maneuvers, darting out from shady perches to sn**ch flying insects and spiders right out of the air.

A brilliantly colored bird from Forest of Himalayan Foothills.
Rufous-bellied Niltava 💙🧡❤️
They are known for their stunning blend of deep cobalt-blue and rich orange plumage, these shy forest dwellers are a favorite among birdwatchers. The brilliant blue is a result of structural colors (how light bounces off their feathers), while the glowing orange is pigment-based, created by dietary nutrients known as carotenoids. During the winter, they migrate from the freezing, higher altitudes of the Himalayas down into lower elevations and subtropical valleys to seek warmer climates.
I photographed this handsome dude in Dec 2022 at Sattal (Uttarakhand, India).

The tallest Owl in North America region.
Great Grey Owl 🦉
They have one of the largest facial discs in the animal kingdom, which funnels sound into asymmetrical ears. This gives them such incredible hearing they can pinpoint and catch small rodents scurrying under 2 feet of snow. They are incredibly quiet and camouflage perfectly with tree bark, making them hard to spot. Unlike other owls that loudly alert their territories, they often remain completely still even when humans walk right past them.
I photographed this handsome dude in Feb 2021. Since photographing this wow was in my wish list, I made a short trip to northern part of Wisconsin to Sax-Zim Bog area. During peak winter time. I was lucky to find one siting on a tree not very from the road. The background came ou very interesting, mix of dry tree and snow.

A vibrant and relatively rare member of the toucan family.
Saffron Toucan 😍
As its name suggests, this toucanet is largely a bright saffron-yellow color, with olive-green wings and a darker tail. Unlike most toucans, which often have black plumage, the Saffron Toucanet’s almost entirely yellow-orange body makes it unique among its family, often described as a “golden jewel”. They are found in the Atlantic Forest of Southeastern Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina, particularly in high-elevation coastal forests.

A active Tail-Flicker who is good in Ariel Acrobatics as well.
Grey-Headed Canary-Flycatcher 😍
These birds are highly social, frequently joining mixed-species foraging flocks, and are known for their loud, cheerful songs and a “squarish” head shape, often nesting in mossy trees. They are very restless and often flick their tails while perched, a habit that makes them easy to spot against the dark, shady forest understory. They perform “sallying” flights, darting from a low perch to sn**ch gnats, mosquitoes, and small beetles in mid-air before returning to the same spot.
I photographed this cute little bird during my trip to Northern area of West Bengal state in India back in Mar 2024. It was such an awesome trip which I did along with my dear birding friend .

The bird which acts like a “theatrical singer” during the monsoon breeding season. 🎤
Painted Francolin 😍
The Monsoon Performer… Males often climb onto elevated, exposed spots like high termite mounds, tree stumps, or fence posts—to sing their loud, rhythmic songs during the monsoon season (June–October). They are often called “painted” because of their striking appearance, specifically the lavish, distinct white spots on their underparts.
I photographed this beautiful bird at Grasslands near Bhigwan Wildlife Sanctuary back in Aug 2024. Thanks to for this amazing sighting.

Primary ancestor of the domestic chicken
Red Junglefow ❤️
It was formerly known as the Bankivaor Bankiva Fowl. Junglefowl are behaviourally different from domestic chickens; they are naturally very shy of humans compared to the much tamer domesticated subspecies. Size wise they have much smaller body mass and is brighter in coloration. Male junglefowl are significantly larger than females and have brightly colored decorative feathers.
I photographed this beautiful bird at Kaziranga National Park back in May 2024.

When Riddhi Tigress owned the forest in golden light 🐅
October 2022, Ranthambhore. Riddhi emerged during the golden hour and walked straight down the track, completely focused and aware of everything around her. She was marking her territory, stopping occasionally, then moving ahead with absolute confidence. There was something special about the way the light fell on her stripes and eyes… sharp, intense, and impossible to look away from. Moments like these are exactly why every safari feels worth it.

A bird from North America region with vibrant red feathers ❤️
Northern Cardinal 😍
The Northern Cardinal is among the most abundant and cherished songbirds in North America. Both male and female are beautiful birds that are easy to identify and a joy to see. As such, the Northern Cardinal is the state bird for seven states in USA 🇺🇸, the mascot for innumerable sports teams, and even the subject of folklore.
I was visiting South Texas back in May 2019 for Birding and I photographed this beauty at . Really had good time there 😊

This picture is from my archive, clicked almost 10 years back. I started my Bird Photography journey in Jan 2014, when I bought my first lens which was Tamron 150-600 version-1 lens.
I was visiting north west part of Rajasthan state in India back in Dec 2015. To see these cranes the best place is to visit village called “Khichan” which is one of the adjoining village of Thar Desert area.
