SPIRITUAL LIFE MEANS ANXIETY-LESS

"... spiritual life means anxiety-less. This is the difference between material life and spiritual life. Brahma-bhutah prasannatma, in the Bhagavad-gita it is described what is spiritual life. As soon as you are identified with the Absolute Truth, Brahman, then symptoms will be prasannatma, jubilation: 'Oh, I do not belong to this material world. I belong to the spiritual world. जीवन का लक्ष्य क्या है? --
हम यह शरीर नहीं हैं। हम आत्मा हैं। हम पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान – श्री कृष्ण के अभिन्न अंग हैं। हमारे जीवन का लक्ष्य परम भगवान श्री कृष्ण के साथ अपने खोए हुए संपर्क को पुनः स्थापित करना है ।
हम सभी को प्रेम की तलाश है। हालांकि लालच, ईर्ष्या, वासना, क्रोध, झूठे अहंकार और भ्रम से भरे हुए इस संसार में -, हम तथाकथित प्रेम की खोज करने का प्रयत्न कर रहे हैं। यह भौतिक संसार दु:खों और कष्टों से भरा है एवं यह अस्थायी है। कोई किसी भी कदम पर समस्याओं में पड़ सकता है। अतः इस भौतिक संसार में हमारा वास्तविक प्रेम पाने का प्रयास सदैव हताशा में ही अंत होता है। वास्तविक प्रेम एवं आनंद पाने के लिए हमें अपने हृदय में सुप्त कृष्ण भक्ति को जागृत करना होगा। मनुष्य जीवन में हमें इस सम्बन्ध को पुनः स्थापित करने का एक सुनहरा अवसर प्राप्त हुआ है।
सदैव उनके पवित्र नाम का जप, कीर्तन, भक्तों की सेवा और हरिनाम के महत्त्व के प्रसार के द्वारा हमें कृष्णभावनामृत की प्राप्ति होगी।
इस प्रकार जब हम कृष्णभावना में सेवा करते हैं, तब हमें उच्चतम दिव्य प्रेम – प्रेम-भक्ति या कृष्ण-प्रेम – का अनुभव होता है। प्रेम-भक्ति को प्राप्त करना ही जीवन का लक्ष्य है। ऐसा जीवन जो सत, चित्त एवं आनंद से परिपूर्ण है !

श्री कृष्ण चैतन्य प्रभु नित्यानंद श्री अद्वैत गदाधर श्री वसादि गौर भक्तवृंद ।

“The verdict of all revealed scriptures is that by even a moment’s association with a pure devotee, one can attain all success.”

The importance of Sadhu sanga cannot be stressed enough. As mentioned in the Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita, even a moments association with a pure vaishnava can bestow upon one all auspiciousness, for the devotees of the Lord are always eager to share with others the transcendental bliss that they experience in their service to the lotus feet of Sri Krishna. One is said to take on the qualities of the people with whom one associates. Just as by association with a thief, one is prone to eventually start stealing, similarly, when one associates with the devotees of the Lord, whose hearts are saturated with intense loving attachment for Vrajendranandan Shyamsundar, then one will undoubtedly develop similar attachment to the lotus feet of the Lord, having been purified by their association and having received their mercy. In glorification of the Vaishnavas, Srila Narottam das thakur has written in one of his songs:
gańgāra paraśa hoile paścate pāvan
darśane pavitra koro-ei tomāra guṇ
After bathing in the waters of the sacred Ganges many times, one becomes purified, but just by the sight of you, the fallen souls are purified. This is your great power.

After thus purifying the sadhaka, who may have many anarthas, the sadhus then water the seed of Bhakti in the heart of the devotee with sweet nectarian discussions about the glorious names, forms, qualities and pastimes of the Lord, which are all transcendental and the embodiment of sweetness. Being thus blessed by the Sadhus, the sadhaka can attentively chant and remember the Lord. Since the external energy of the Lord, Maya, is extremely powerful and is very vigilant in executing her responsibility of not allowing unqualified people go forward in the path of Bhakti, it is very difficult for a sadhaka to make steady progress on the path of Bhakti and not get trapped in the allure of the material world, and therefore, it is utmost important for the devotees to always remain in the association of such pure devotees, who are the gaurdians of this path of Bhakti and can lead us straight to the lotus feet of Sri Krishna. Understanding the importance of Sadhu Sanga, one should always pray to the Lord to be blessed with such blissful association, and when with great good fortune one comes into contact with a pure devotee, that blessed person should catch hold of the lotus feet of the Vaishnava and consider them to be dearer than one’s own life. Having such firm faith in Sadhus, one is sure to make rapid progress on the path of Bhakti.

The ISKCON movement prevalently known as Hare Krishna movement in the west is a monotheistic wing of Gaudiya Vaishnava branch of spirituality that is believed to have started from the days of Lord Krishna. He is believed to be the head of all goods and creatures who took birth on earth to give the sermon of Bhagavad-Gita about five thousand years ago. This movement follows his teachings as it is written in Vedas and scriptures such as Srimad Bhagavat or Bhagavad-Gita.

Few important practices of this movement involve chanting God’s holy name consistently to bring solemn and lasting peace. This is primarily done to revive our relationship with the almighty. It is said that Lord Krishna took incarnation as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu 525 years ago. He took incarnation as his own devotee to come out with a new form of congregational chanting known as Sankirtana which is a subtle form of spiritual practice in this era. He also made famous the chant of Mahamantra which comprised of simple names of gods such as Hare Rama or Hare Krishna. It was in fact, Swami Srila Prabhupada (1896-1977) who transformed Sri Chaitanya’s movement into ISKCON.

The journey of Hare Krishna Movement founder:
At 69 years of age, Swami Prabhupada left Vrindavan to spread the message of Lord Krishna to the west to execute the message of the spiritual master. He reached Boston in a freight ship, carrying a meager $7 and a chest containing books of Lord Krishna. For a few years, he struggled in the new country and earned his living by speaking at Yoga studios or at spiritual meetings of bohemians. In the free time, he would just sit under a tree of a public park and chanted the names of Lord Krishna. Few curious onlookers joined him in chanting. Some of them took an active interest in his cause and founded ‘Krishna consciousness’ movement.

Like the sun is the same source of light for everyone around the world but is known by different names; similarly Krishna consciousness, Krishna or god are synonymous terms for the worship of the supreme deity. One can practice Krishna consciousness anywhere and can become a part of ISKCON. To adopt the practices of this movement, you need not change your religion. Though ‘Krishna consciousness’ is known to have arisen from the Gaudiya Vaishnava cult commonly referred as Hinduism, but it aims to serve the eternal purpose of a soul which is to attain eternal spiritual equanimity and hence is known as sss. Also, it transcends the religious and social identities of individuals.
