St John's Bridge in Portland, Oregon. It is not the longest bridge, but it is the most beautiful bridge in Oregon. The design of the bridge towers and arches underneath the bridge, is reminiscent of the gothic style architecture of western Europe.

This is a photo of the temperate rainforests of the Appalachian Mountains at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I spent a week there in summer and fell in love with this place.

Rainforests contribute over 40% of planet's oxygen and majority of the planet's fresh water. They cover less than 6% of the planets land area from the once more than 15% of planet's land area. They are the planet's lungs and it is vital to protect them. Fortunately in the last few years the rate of deforestation has reduced and it is important to continue the progress till they are completely protected before it is too late. As consumers, check out if the products sold follow "sustainable agricultural practices". Foundations like Rainforest Alliance and others help certify whether the products follow sustainable practices.

The historic Steel Bridge in Portland. It is a 106 year old double deck, vertical-lift bridge. The bridge has two levels, one for pedestrians and trains & second level for motor traffic. It also has a vertical lift, which lifts the middle section of the bridge to allow ships to pass through.

According to The Oregonian, it is the hardest working bridge on the Willamette River: "Cars, trucks, freight trains, buses, Amtrak, MAX, pedestrians, bicycles -- you carry it all."
