Hon'ble Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation cm area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia, today inaugurated the Plastic Waste Management Unit (PWMU) at Labdang village, Gyalshing District.

The unit, set up under the Rural Development Department (RDD) as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, aims to ensure proper segregation, reuse and management of plastic waste at the village level.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Bhutia stressed the need for such units in every village, calling it a crucial step in mitigating the negative impact of plastic waste on the environment.

The Minister also inaugurated a newly constructed house under the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY), formally handing it over to the beneficiary family.

The Hon'ble Minister also interacted with local residents and reviewed ongoing developmental projects in the area.
