Hon’ble Chief Minister Shriman Prem Singh Tamang-Golay Visits Landslide-Affected Rimbi Village, Extends Assistance to Affected Families !!!

Hon’ble Chief Minister Shriman Prem Singh Tamang-Golay today visited landslide-affected Rimbi village under the Yuksom–Tashiding Constituency to assess the situation and meet families affected by the recent landslide. The Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia was also present during the visit.

While expressing relief that no lives were lost, the Hon'ble Chief Minister expressed concern over the damage to homes and properties and the hardships faced by the affected families.

As immediate relief, financial assistance through cheques and cash under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) was provided to affected families in accordance with prescribed norms and the extent of damage. Land allotment orders were also distributed under the Sikkim Garib Aawas Yojana (SGAY), with arrangements for house construction for families who lost their homes.

The Hon'ble Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the affected families and ensuring their safe rehabilitation. He also expressed gratitude to government officials, NGOs, individuals, and members of various political parties for their solidarity and collective efforts in extending assistance to the people of Rimbi.

The safety, dignity, and well-being of the affected families remain a priority as efforts continue towards their rehabilitation and recovery.

Hon’ble Minister Shri. Tshering T. Bhutia Inspects Rimbi Landslide Relief Camp and Temporary Settlement Works

Rimbi, 5 October 2026 (SKM Highlights): Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia visited the Rimbi Landslide Relief Camp and inspected the ongoing construction works for the temporary settlement being established for the Rimbi landslide-affected families. The temporary arrangements will provide shelter to the affected families until their permanent houses are constructed under the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana.

During the visit, the Hon’ble Minister interacted with Shri Karma S***a (OSD to HCM) Shri Chokey Kazi (Chairman, Ecclesiastical Department) Shri Mingma Lepcha (OSD to Tourism Department) and Hon’ble Panchayat President Shri Mangal Rai, and took updates on the progress of the ongoing works and the arrangements being made for the affected families.

The Hon’ble Minister also interacted with the selfless volunteers who have been tirelessly working at the relief site and expressed his heartfelt gratitude for their dedicated service, cooperation and continued support to the affected families during this difficult period.

Hon’ble Minister Visits Bali Hang Tongnam 2026 Festival Site

Hon’ble Minister Shri Tshering T. Bhutia, Chief Patron of Bali Hang Tongnam 2026 (Cultural Tourism Festival), visited the festival site at Yuksom today.

He was accompanied by Hon’ble Zilla Adhyakshya Shri D.S. Limboo, Patron of the Celebration Committee.

During the visit, the dignitaries briefly visited the festival venue and took note of the ongoing preparations for the upcoming cultural tourism festival.

Bali Hang Tongnam 2026 is scheduled to be held at Yuksom Colony from October 30 to November 1, 2026.

Hon'ble Minister-cum-area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia inspected under-construction SDM office building at Yuksam.

Hon'ble Minister for Tourism & civil aviation, commerce & industries and food processing departments cum-area-MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia conducted an inspection of the under-construction Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office building at Yuksam Today.

The minister inspected the construction site and reviewed the progress of the ongoing works with officials and engineers. He expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of construction and directed the concerned officials to expedite the work while maintaining the required quality standards without compromise.

Hon'ble Minister Shri Tshering T.Bhutia emphasized that once completed and operational, the new SDM office will significantly benefit the people of Yuksam-Tashiding Subdivision. “All offices under the Sub-Division will be located under a single roof enabling public to access multiple services at one location and reducing the time and expense involved in visiting different offices, the minister added.

Hon'ble Minister-cum-area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia distributes Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojna cheques in Yuksam.

A total of 491 beneficiaries from five Gram Panchayat Units, including Sangha, under Yuksam BAC, received financial assistance cheques under the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana at a programme held at Yuksam Today.

The cheque distribution programme was organised by the Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department, BAC Yuksam, as part of the state-wide distribution of financial assistance under the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikran Yojna. A total of 491 beneficiaries from five GPUs including Sangha under Yuksam BAC received cheques amounting to rupees 20,000 each under the scheme.

Tourism & Civil Aviation and Commerce & Industries Minister-cum-Yuksam-Tashiding MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia graced the program as the chief guest and distributed financial assistance cheques under the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana to beneficiaries from five Gram Panchayat Units, including Sangha, under Yuksam Block Administrative centre.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Shri Tshering T. Bhutia congratulated the beneficiaries and said the scheme was aimed at providing financial support to mothers and strengthening their economic independence. He urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the assistance for their families and livelihood needs.

The Minister said the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana is a flagship social welfare initiative of the State Government under the Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, aimed at supporting mothers and promoting financial empowerment at the grassroots level.

Minister also urged the beneficiaries to remain grateful to Hon'ble Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang-Golay for introducing such welfare schemes aimed at providing support to people at the grassroots level. Minister Shri Bhutia said the state government is committed to improving the socio-economic well-being of its people through various welfare schemes and programmes, with the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana being one such initiative focused on supporting mothers. Minister-cum-area MLA further stated that all eligible mothers would be covered under the scheme in the future.

Earlier, upon his arrival, Minister Shri Bhutia inaugurated the renovated Assembly Hall of Yuksam-Dubdi Gram Prashashan Kendra.

Also present on the occasion were Advisor to the Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri GM Lepcha, Zilla Adhyakshya Gyalshing Shri Ds Limboo, BDO Yuksam Shri Sanman S***a, CLC President Shri Nandu Gurung, Gram Panchayat members, Social Welfare Inspectors and other officials of Yuksam BAC.

Earlier, BDO Shri Sanman S***a briefed the gathering about the programme. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Social Welfare Inspector, Yuksam BAC, Shri Milan Lungsuhang Limboo.

Hon'ble Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation and Commerce & Industries departments cum-area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia visited Mangtabong village today to assess the damages caused by the landslide triggered by torrential rainfall on September 18.

The landslide, accompanied by flash floods, severely damaged two residential houses, killed two milch cows and swept away a kitchen hut at Mangtabong village under Yuksam Sub-Division. Following the incident, the Yuksam Sub-Divisional Administration, led by SDM Shri Jigmee Dorjee Bhutia, evacuated members of two affected families to a safer location and arranged a temporary relief shelter for the affected residents.

During his visit, Minister Shri Tshering T. Bhutia, accompanied by the SDM and concerned Gram Panchayat members, took stock of the damages to houses, property and livestock.

The Minister later visited the temporary relief shelter and interacted with the affected families, enquiring about their well-being and concerns. He also handed over relief materials, including essential commodities, to the affected families. At present, two affected families comprising 12 members are staying at the temporary relief camp.

The Minister was accompanied by Zilla Adhyaksha Shri Ds Limboo, SDM Yuksam Shri Jigmee Bhutia, CLC President Shri Nandu Gurung, Panchayat Vice-President (Yuksam-Dubdi GPU) Shri Karzang Bhutia, concerned Ward Panchayat Member Smt. Savitri Chettri and local residents.

धुप्पीडाँडा गाउँमा अयोजित गान्धी जयन्ती समारोहमा पर्यटन मन्त्री छिरिङ टी. भोटिया सहभागी।

पर्यटन तथा नागरिक उड्डयन एवं वाणिज्य तथा उद्योग मन्त्री तथा योक्सम-टाँसिडिङ समष्टिका छेत्र विधायक छिरिङ टी. भोटिया आज योक्सम-टासीडिङ निर्वाचन क्षेत्रअन्तर्गत गेजिङ जिल्लाको धुप्पीडाँडा सरकारी जुनियर हाई स्कुलमा आयोजित गान्धी जयन्ती समारोहमा मुख्य अतिथिका रूपमा उपस्थित भै कार्यक्रममा सहभागी बने।

विद्यालयको खेल मैदानमा आयोजित समारोहअन्तर्गत विभिन्न कार्यक्रमहरू सञ्चालन गरिएका थिए। समारोहको प्रमुख आकर्षणमध्ये फुटसल प्रतियोगिताको फाइनल खेल रहेको थियो। यसका साथै विद्यार्थीहरूद्वारा सांस्कृतिक प्रस्तुति तथा स्थानीय सांस्कृतिक टोलीद्वारा प्रस्तुत कार्यक्रमहरू पनि आयोजना गरिएका थिए।

कार्यक्रममा जिल्ला तथा ग्राम पञ्चायतका सदस्यहरू, शिक्षक-शिक्षिका, विद्यार्थीहरू तथा स्थानीय गण्यमान्य व्यक्तिहरूको बाक्लो उपस्थिति रहेको थियो।

समारोहलाई सम्बोधन गर्दै मन्त्री छिरिङ टी भोटियाले गान्धी जयन्तीको अवसरमा जन भेलालाई शुभकामना व्यक्त गर्दै गान्धी जयन्ती दिवसको महत्व तथा राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गान्धीले प्रतिपादन गर्नुभएको सत्य, अहिंसा र शान्तिपूर्ण संघर्षका सिद्धान्तबारे प्रकाश पारे।

उहाँले भारतको स्वतन्त्रता आन्दोलनमा महात्मा गान्धीको योगदान स्मरण गर्दै विशेषगरी सत्याग्रहजस्ता शान्तिपूर्ण आन्दोलनमार्फत उहाँले निर्वाह गर्नुभएको भूमिकाबारे उल्लेख गर्दै राष्ट्रपिताका आदर्श र सिद्धान्तलाई आत्मसात् गर्दै अघि बढ्नुपर्नेमा उहाँले जोड दिए।

सम्बोधनका क्रममा मन्त्रीले हालैको आकस्मिक बाढी तथा पहिरोका कारण समष्टिको रिम्बी गाउँमा भएको क्षतिबारे बोल्दै उहाँले प्रभावित क्षेत्रमा राहत, पुनर्स्थापना तथा विपद् न्यूनीकरणका लागि जिल्ला प्रशासनसहित राज्य सरकारका विभिन्न विभागहरू निरन्तर रूपमा कार्यरत रहेको बताए। प्रभावित क्षेत्रमा सामान्य अवस्था पुनःस्थापित गर्न सरकारका तर्फबाट आवश्यक प्रयास भइरहेको उहाँले जानकारी दिए।

सम्माननिय मुख्यमन्त्री श्री प्रेमसिंह तामाङ-गोलेको सक्षम तथा दूरदर्शी नेतृत्वमा राज्य सरकारले वर्तमान कठिन परिस्थितिलाई पार गर्दै प्रभावित जनताको राहत तथा पुनर्स्थापनाका लागि निरन्तर काम गर्ने मन्त्रीले बताए।

Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia today paid social visits at Dhuppi-Simichen villages under Yuksam-Tashiding Constituency, where he met families who had recently lost their loved ones.

During the visits, the Minister expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and conveyed his solidarity, support and sympathy during their difficult time. He spent time with the family members and offered words of comfort and reassurance.

Rimbi, October 1: Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia Inspects Rimbi Landslide Relief Camp and Identifies Temporary Settlement Sites

Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia visited the Rimbi Landslide Relief Camp and inspected suitable areas for the establishment of temporary settlements for the landslide-affected families of Rimbi.

During his visit to the relief camp, the Hon’ble Minister took stock of its overall functioning, availability of essential resources, food arrangements for the affected families and evacuees, healthcare facilities, and the preparedness of the concerned authorities and civic volunteers.

He also held significant discussions regarding the further course of action to address the damages caused by the landslide, including both immediate temporary measures and long-term permanent solutions for the affected families.

The Hon’ble Minister undertook nearly an hour-long inspection of suitable areas within the Rimbi periphery for establishing temporary settlements for the affected families of Rimbi and Singlitam. While identifying the sites, particular importance was given to suitable physical features of the land and areas with minimum vulnerability to further landslide occurrences. The temporary settlements are intended to accommodate the affected families until their permanent houses are constructed under the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana.

The Hon’ble Minister thereafter visited the damaged houses in Rimbi and took a detailed assessment of the ongoing mud and debris-clearance works being carried out by several self-motivated volunteers. He also inspected the remaining difficult areas requiring the intervention of machinery for effective debris clearance.

During the visit, the Hon’ble Minister interacted with the volunteers engaged in the house-cleaning and relief operations. He acknowledged and appreciated their dedicated efforts and solidarity with the landslide-affected families. He specially acknowledged the contribution of Darjeeling Mato ko maya Sewa Sanstha, whose members travelled all the way from Darjeeling to extend their support and stand in solidarity with the Rimbi landslide victims during this difficult time.

The Hon’ble Minister was accompanied by Hon’ble Zilla Adhyaksha Shri D. S. Limboo, Shri Yogen Tamang (Press Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister) Smt. Puja Lamichane, (OSD to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Legal Cell) Shri Jigmee Dorjee Bhutia (SDM, Yuksom) Shri Samman Limboo ( BDO, Yuksom) Shri Basant Tamang (OSD to the Hon’ble MLA) Shri Mingma Lepcha (OSD to the Tourism Department) Hon’ble Panchayat President Shri Mangal Rai, Panchayat Members and other concerned officials and representatives.

Later, Shri Tenzing Denzongpa, District Collector, Gyalshing, along with the DPO, Gyalshing, also visited the Rimbi Landslide Relief Camp and took stock of the ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.
