Hon'ble Minister-cum-Area MLA Shri Tshering T. Bhutia paid a condolence visit to a bereaved family at Tamatam village under Gerethang-Labing GPU early this morning.

During the visit, the Minister spent time with the bereaved family members and offered his heartfelt condolences and comfort. He interacted with the family members and expressed his solidarity with the family during their difficult time.

The Minister also briefly toured the village and interacted with local residents. SKM party karyakartas and local youth accompanied the Minister during the visit.

Hon'ble Minister Shri, Tshering T. Bhutia attends I-Day football tournament at Upper Gerethang.

Minister for Tourism & Civil Aviation, Commerce & Industries and Food Processing Minister and Yuksam-Tashiding MLA Shri, Tshering T. Bhutia today attended the ongoing Independence Day football tournament at Government junior High school Playground at Upper Gerethang under Yuksam-Tashiding as the chief guest.

The Minister was accorded a warm welcome by members of the Independence Day Celebration Committee (IDCC), Gram Panchayat and local residents upon his arrival.

A total of 30-teams are participating in the Open Men's Independence Day Football Tournament being organised as part of the celebrations at Upper Gerethang. Two quarter-final matches were played today. In the first match, Lower Chongrang FC defeated D**g FC 2-1. The tournament also features a Junior Boys' category with 10 teams and an Open Women's category with six teams.

On the occasion, sports enthusiast and football coach Darshan Gurung of Redang, was felicitated with an appreciation letter for his sustained efforts in engaging and mentoring young people through sports, particularly football. The IDCC recognised his contribution towards keeping youths constructively engaged and away from substance abuse and other anti-social activities. Gurung regularly conducts football coaching camps and has also organised Under-19 tournaments to promote sporting talent among the younger generation.

Senior citizen couples from different villages under Gerethang-Labing GPU were also felicitated with appreciation letters during the occasion.

Earlier, Minister Bhutia inaugurated a newly established five-room alternative shed at the Government Junior High School, Upper Gerethang. The facility was established with financial support from the Minister-cum-Area MLA, with the active support of Zilla Panchayat member Yadhu Nath Chettri and the collective efforts of School Management Committee members, local residents and well-wishers.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Bhutia highlighted the significance of Independence Day and extended advance greetings to the people on behalf of the State Government on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day. He said programmes such as these provide valuable platforms for young people to develop their abilities in sports, music, dance and other fields. He urged the youth to remain vigilant against illicit activities and focus on self-development and honing their skills and talents.

The Minister stressed that such celebrations should not be limited to entertainment but should also serve as platforms for identifying, nurturing and promoting the talents of the younger generation.
Minister Bhutia also highlighted various flagship initiatives of the State Government aimed at development and public welfare. He briefed the gathering on developmental projects in the pipeline for the Yuksam-Tashiding constituency, particularly in tourism, education and agriculture.

Sharing his vision for the constituency, he outlined plans and proposals to strengthen the tourism sector as a means of generating livelihood opportunities, promoting economic growth and ensuring holistic development. He said the State Government, under the leadership of Hon'ble Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang-Golay remains committed to the welfare and upliftment of the people.

Cultural presentations by school students and local cultural groups added colour to the day's event. The programme commenced with a welcome address by IDCC President Kumar Limboo and was compered by IDCC member Deepan Chettri.

In accordance with the direction of Hon’ble Chief Minister cm SKM Party President, Shri Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, and the Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA of the 01 Yuksom-Tashiding Constituency, Shri Tshering T. Bhutia, a Coordination Meeting of the CLC, 01 Yuksom-Tashiding Constituency, was successfully held today at Gerathang GPK Hall, Gyalsing, to review the preparations for the upcoming 9th Jan Unmukti Diwas / Aama Samman Diwas 2026.

The meeting was chaired by Shri Sangay Lepcha, Hon’ble Former MLA-cum-Deputy Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly.

The meeting was attended by Shri D.S. Limboo, Hon’ble Zilla Adhyaksha, Gyalsing District; Smt. Shanti Limboo, Chairperson of the Sikkim Cooperative and Consumer Society; Shri G.M. Constituency-Level Coordination Meeting.

As directed by the Hon'ble Minister-cum-Area MLA of Yuksam-Tashiding Constituency and Senior Vice President of the SKM Party, Shri Tshering T. Bhutia, an Urgent constituency-level coordination meeting has been convened and is scheduled to be held on August 6, 2026 (Tommorow).

All Hon'ble Advisors, Chairpersons, OSDs, Zilla Panchayat members, CLC Executives, Panchayat Presidents, Presidents of all SKM frontal organisations, WLC Presidents, and social media are requested to attend the meeting without fail.
