കുടയെടുക്കാൻ മറന്നു എന്ന ചിന്ത ഉണ്ണിക്കുട്ടന്റെ കാലുകൾക്ക് വേഗമേറ്റി... സ്‌കൂളിലോട്ടുള്ള വഴിയാണ് കേമം, തോടേതാ വഴിയേതാ എന്നറിയാത്ത വിധം നിറഞ്ഞൊഴുകുന്നുണ്ടാവും... കർക്കിടത്തിൽ ജനിച്ചോണ്ടാവും മഴയോട് പ്രത്യേക ഇഷ്ടമുള്ളോണ്ട് മഴ നനഞ്ഞാലും കുഴപ്പമില്ല... പക്ഷേ നനഞൊട്ടി ക്‌ളാസിലിരിക്കേണ്ട കാര്യം ആലോചിക്കുമ്പോതന്നെ ആകെ ഒരു വിറയൽ... പതിവ് പോലെ നാഗത്തറയിലെ തുളസികതിർ പോക്കറ്റിലാക്കി..ഒരു വിശ്വാസം..

കരിമ്പനകളിൽ കാറ്റു പിടിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവറ്റകൾ വല്ലാതെ പിടയ്ക്കും.. രാത്രികാലങ്ങളിൽ അവയ്‌ക്കരികിലൂടെ പോവുമ്പോൾ നമ്മളുടെ മനസ്സും.. ഏതു നിമിഷവും ഒരു യക്ഷി ഇറങ്ങി വന്നു ചോര കുടിയ്ക്കുമെന്ന ഭയത്താൽ സകല ദൈവങ്ങളേയും വിളിച്ചാവും സഞ്ചാരം...ഇന്ന് പലയിടത്തും വെട്ടി വീഴ്ത്തപെടുമ്പോൾ, എന്തിനും ഏതിനും കരിമ്പനകളെ ചേർത്തു പിടിച്ച പാലക്കാടൻ നാടോടി കഥകളിൽ മാത്രമായി കരിമ്പനകൾ അവശേഷിക്കുന്ന കാലം വിദൂരമല്ല...
