#आवाज़: Ranjeet Singh, a budding young tribal journalist from Sarada, Udaipur, shares the pain of 'Kalbelia' community.

"राजस्थान का कालबेलिया समुदाय अपने नृत्य के ज़रिए देश-दुनिया में जाना जाता है | लेकिन लोकप्रसिद्ध नृत्य का प्रतीक होने के बावजूद इस जनजाति का असली दर्द है दो गज ज़मीन और खाली पेट | शरीर में गज़ब की उर्जा, संगीत की धुन पर थिरकते पाँव और एक-एक कदम सधा हुआ | पूरी दुनिया में नृत्य की इस विद्या से धाक जमा देने वाली इस कालबेलिया जनजाति को अपने ही घर के लिए ज़मीन नसीब नहीं है, तन पर पहनने के लिए पूरे कपडे नहीं है | हालात कुछ ऐसे है कि मरने के बाद दफनाने के लिए शमशान में भी जगह नहीं मिलती | इस जनजाति के लोग जातिभेद के कारण अछूत माने जाते है और ये लोग आज भी समाज में छुआछूत की मानसिक बीमारी से जूझ रहे है | इनके जीवन पर अगर गौर डालें तो ये लोग बंजारों की तरह घूम घूम कर अपनी पूरी ज़िन्दगी काटते हैं | ये लोग जिस गाँव में पहुँचते हैं उसकी बाहरी तरफ अपना डेरा जमा देते हैं और मांग कर जो मिलता है उसी से अपने खाने की वाव्स्था चलाते हैं | अक्सर रास्तों पर जाते समय इन्हें जो लोहा, प्लास्टिक और भंगार मिलता है उसको बेच कर भी कुछ हद तक गुज़ारा करते हैं | जागरूकता की कमी व पैसों की ज़रूरत के कारण ‘नाता प्रथा’ जैसी रूडीवादी मान्यताओं का चलन आज भी कालबेलिया जनजाति में देखा जा सकता है | ‘नाता प्रथा’ के अनुसार परिवार के मर्द पैसों के लिए घर की औरतों को किसी दुसरे के घर गिरवी रख देते हैं | समाज में सर्वान्गिंड विकास के लिए कालबेलिया समुदाय ही नहीं बल्कि ऐसे हर पिछड़े समुदाय को जीवन के मौजूदा स्तर से ऊपर उठाने की आवश्यकता है जो अपनी ज़िन्दगी ‘जी’ नहीं रहे लेकिन सिर्फ ‘काट’ रहे हैं |"

#आवाज़ is an initiative which focuses on training the tribal youth with journalistic skills and building a network of independent rural journalists in the tribal villages of Sarada Block in Udaipur, Rajasthan, with the aim of digging out the stories from the grass-root levels.The​ ​project parallelly focuses upon its ‘school edition’ in which school-centric content is generated by collaborating with Headmasters, teachers, and Government Education Officers

Support is required to keep our practices going from people who are concerned about the standards of living of every human being in our society. We mainly require support in terms of stationery, publishing of copies of story letters, and financial funds for our team to work efficiently and help them in traveling to the existing nearby media organizations to understand the working culture better.
