Dhankar Gompa is a monastery situated at approx. 12,700 feet above sea level and sits on top of a 1000 feet cliff located in Spiti valley. Dhang or dang means cliff, and kar or kharmeans fort. Hence Dhangkar means fort on a cliff. It offers a mesmerizing view of the valley.
