Titled "The bombing of Air India flight by Canadian Sikh terrorists on this day in 1985 killed 329 people, including 268 Canadians".
Posted today - 23rd June 2024 on Page 15 of Sunday TOI Newspaper New Delhi.

Sir,
In my personal capacity as a practicing Advocate and on behalf of my Colleague Advocates and the aggrieved Sikh Community, I hereby serve your Office with this Legal Notice and draw your attention to the above mentioned defamatory and blasphemous post in your Newspaper and state as under:
1) Please note that Terrorists/Criminals do not belong to any Faith/Religion, Community or Caste, therefore, by referring to the Terriorists as "Sikh terrorists", your Newspaper's act is racist and anti-Religious thereby insulting and defaming the entire Sikh Community.
2) By the above derogatory and defamatory post against the Sikh Community your Newspaper is spreading hatred and negative propaganda against the entire Sikh Community and inciting the Citizens of India against the Sikh Community.
3) Does your Newspaper think there are no Terrorists/Criminals of Hindu Faith/ Religion and all Hindus are Saints? The Newspaper is full of Crimes committed by people of Hindu Faith, however, your Newspaper does not refer to the Criminal/offender by their Religion. We have yet to read your Newspaper referring to Terrorists/Criminals as "Hindu Terrorists/Criminals". By such defamatory posts your Newspaper is targeting our Religion and defaming our Faith thereby committing blasphemy against our Faith. The Sikh Community is deeply hurt by your tainted, motivated and blasphemous post.
4) The above post by your Newspaper is intentional and deliberate with malafide motive with hidden agenda to brand the Sikh Community as "Terrorists" with no regard to the Sacrifices and Selfless Services the Sikh Community does for their Motherland and globally, serving Humanity worldwide in spite of people of Hindu Faith referring/branding to them as "Terrorists, Extremists etc" and mocking our Faith.
5) It is also noticed that whenever a person from Sikh Faith/Sikh Community achieves any recognition in Sports, Education or any other field in India or Abroad, your Newspaper intentionally omits to use the word SIKH with their name and sometimes intentionally omits to use their Surname "SINGH OR KAUR" because your Newspaper is biased and does not want to publish any achievement of Sikh Community and does not want the Nation to know that a person from Sikh Community has made any achievement or contribution for success of this Nation. However, when there is a reporting of Crime, your Newspaper is the first to write our Faith as "Sikh" with the name of the offender. This just reflects on how your Newspaper's reporting is highly biased and discriminatory.
In my personal capacity as a practicing Advocate and on behalf of my Colleague Advocates and the aggrieved Sikh Community, I hereby call upon you as Editor of TOI and your Newspaper to cease and desist from referring to any Offender / Criminal by their Faith /Religion /Community /Caste and to Publish a Full Page Written Apology to the Sikh Community in your Newspaper for this defamatory and blasphemous post within two days of receipt of this Legal Notice, failing which, I shall be constrained to initiate appropriate Legal proceedings against you as Editor and the TOI Newspaper.
I further call upon you as Editor and your Newspaper to send a Written Apology to our highest Religious Body - Shri Akal Takhat Sahib, Shri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar and to SGPC, Amritsar, with copy to undersigned.
