“Love in Future Past”
Chapter 1. The wait
A visual reflection on the idea that the way we are used to experiencing romantic love - is through the past and the future. We hardly stop to be in the present, even though that is where love actually resides.
We cling to memories or expectations, but neither of it is love. Love in the present may seem elusive and requires bravery to stay in that present. But it is in truth- the love that knows no disappointments or pain.
This editorial explores the elusive tug of war between romantic nostalgia for past and longing for future all with the backdrop of graphic pop culture references and cinematic inspiration of Wong Kar Wai universe. As we move from soft florals and flowing silhouettes into more structure we follow the heroine who moves from the moment of romantic loss and living the memories into hoping for the future. She builds daring expectations sporting edgier layering and quirky mixture of patterns with sequins. But the question remains- will she ever get to experience the present?
