Reflections on Shadows III

Often dislike ones as this, where it takes directly from the title. This is indeed a reflection on a shadow. Or would that be 'of' a shadow, or a shadow's reflection. Technically, a shadow can be reflected on, but can it be reflected? Wouldn't it be light reflecting off a surface, on a surface. Can a shadow really be reflected unless it's got some light as a part of its element?

Reflections on Shadows II

Just gorgeous light and shadow through my living room window. It is surprisingly momentary. It literally exists for a minute or two a day, in this particular form for about five or six days each year. Of course, one moment is never ever the same as another. There was a veritable gallery of images right here, and I promised myself I would photograph it. And now I have a frame. Too many unfulfilled promises.

Reflections on Shadows I

The strange thing about really fine instruments... on quiet afternoons when the wind wafts through an open window, listen carefully with your ears close to the skin. My Dad's 'Ektara' (a single stringed instrument), which oddly has two other strings (one that only resonates), thrums on its own accord, as though played by the lilting light.

Dancing shadows can be hypnotic... mesmerising. A windy summer afternoon with the sun playing with plantain tree leaves, painting it's wanton poetry on a whitewashed wall. I was lost for a while.
