The Ghost of Tonglu

They call it the "Ghost of Tonglu" for a reason. While most owls wait for the dead of night, this Short-eared owl hunts the high-altitude slopes in that strange, shifting light between day and dusk. It appeared out of the Singalila mist like a hallucination—a pale, silent shape drifting over the ridges before settling briefly on a branch.
The photo might be soft, but the memory is sharp. It’s one thing to see a bird in a book; it’s another to stand in the thin Himalayan air and have those yellow eyes lock onto yours.
