Illegal Transportation of Six Bovines Detected; Police Station Gursai Register FIR

Poonch, June 9

Continuing its efforts to prevent illegal activities and ensure strict enforcement of the law, Police Station Gursai intercepted a Mahindra Pick-up vehicle bearing registration number JK11F-9719 during routine checking and patrolling duties.

During inspection, the vehicle was found carrying six bovine animals without valid permission and in violation of the prescribed legal provisions. The animals were being transported illegally, prompting immediate action by the police team.

Consequently, the vehicle along with the bovines was seized, and a case has been registered at Police Station Gursai under the relevant provisions of law. Further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source, destination, and involvement of other persons, if any.

District Police Poonch remains committed to taking strict action against all unlawful activities and appeals to the public to cooperate with the police by sharing information regarding any such illegal practices.

NC Leader Mohd Mahroof Khan Raises Concern Over Dilapidated Bridges in Mendhar
Mendhar: National Conference leader Mohd Mahroof Khan has highlighted the urgent need for the reconstruction and upgradation of the Sangala Bridge, Dhakki Bridge, and Saglaid Bridge in Mendhar, stating that these vital structures are essential for the safety and connectivity of local residents.
Speaking on the issue, Mohd Mahroof Khan said that although the road falls under the jurisdiction of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), there is a pressing need for coordinated efforts between Hon’ble MP Mian Altaf Sahib, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Javed Rana Sahib, and BRO authorities to ensure that these bridges are rebuilt at the earliest.
He pointed out that during the rainy season, rivers frequently flow over these bridges, causing serious inconvenience to commuters and posing significant safety risks to the public. He further noted that the bridges were constructed many years ago and have now exceeded their intended lifespan, making their reconstruction a matter of urgency.
Mohd Mahroof Khan emphasized that modern and durable bridges would greatly improve connectivity, enhance public safety, and facilitate smoother transportation for the people of the area. He urged the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to address this long-pending issue in the larger public interest.
