Month's Mind: Remembering Rev. Dr. Fr. Bolmax Pereira (1976–2026) 🕊️🌿

A beloved Goan Catholic priest, passionate environmental activist, and dedicated educator. Serving as the parish priest at St Francis Xavier Church in Chicalim and the convener for the Diocesan Commission for Ecology, he was a tireless champion for Goa's natural heritage and a guiding light for its youth.

Fierce Eco-Activist: A leading voice in the "Save Mollem" campaign, he dedicated his ministry to mangrove conservation, organic farming, and fighting destructive infrastructure projects.

Inspiring Educator: Alongside his pastoral duties, he shaped young minds as an Assistant Professor of Botany at St Joseph Vaz College in Cortalim and the whole of Goa.

Community Leader: Known for his deep connection to the youth and his unwavering dedication to his parishioners.

Father Bolmax passed away following a sudden cardiac arrest on May 26, 2026, at the age of 50. His sudden loss sparked a massive outpouring of grief from parishioners, environmentalists, and social groups across Goa. His legacy of faith, education, and ecological preservation will forever be remembered.

My Goa ♥️ 🌴 🌊

It absolutely breaks my heart to see what is happening to my homeland 💔 🏡 🥺 For generations, our grandparents worked tirelessly to protect Goa’s lush green fields, hills, and agricultural land. Now, that entire legacy is being destroyed under the guise of Section 39A of the TCP Act.
This loophole is being used to quietly convert our precious green zones into settlement areas, selling out our heritage to out-of-state builders and mega developers for huge profits. But the destruction doesn't just stop at losing our greenery; these massive concrete dwellings are going to generate mountains of waste and put an impossible burden on our already struggling water supply. Goa is already a water-deficit state—we barely have enough water for our current Goan population! How are we supposed to support thousands and lakhs of new people moving into these massive complexes built right over our protected fields/green zones ? This sheer greed is going to further ruin whatever is left of our precious Goa.
Our land is our identity, and it shouldn't be massacred in the name of development. If not us, then who else will protect our home? 🌴🏡 - Rocky Wilz
