The Residency, also called as the British Residency and Residency Complex, is a group of several building in a common precinct. The Residency now exists in ruins and is located in the heart of the city, in vicinity of other monuments like Shaheed Smarak, Tehri Kothi and High Court Building. It was constructed during the rule of Nawab Saadat Ali Khan II,who was the fifth Nawab of the province of Awadh (British Spelling Oudh). The construction took place between 1780 to 1800 AD and served as the residence for the British Resident General who was a representative in the court of the Nawab. In 1857 the place witnessed a prolonged battle which is also known as Siege of Lucknow; this began on 1 July and continued until 17 November.

Bangles are traditional ornaments worn mostly by South Asian women in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is a common tradition to see a new bride wearing glass bangles at her wedding and the honeymoon will end when the last bangle breaks. Bangles also have a very traditional value in Hinduism and it is considered inauspicious to be bare armed for a married woman.

KUDIA GHAT - A most beautiful river bank in Lucknow.
Kudia Ghat(River bank) of Gomti River in Lucknow, is one of the ancient and sacred places in Lucknow city. It is named after Rishi Kaundilya, who had established his Ashram in Lucknow near the river bank in early times. This beautiful Ghat was rebuilt in 1990. You can also view here an old Shiv Temple built in the year 1889. A number of people enjoy swimming here and particularly in Kartik Purnima millions of devotees come here and take a holy dip in river Gomti. It is must-see Ghat in Lucknow. Peaceful environment of the River bank and beauty of Kudia Ghat attract many piligrims and travellers who visit Lucknow.
