🏆 We have a winner! Huge congratulations to Dmitry Patent for claiming first place in our “Fire & Flames” Interiors contest! 📷

This breathtaking shot captures the raw energy of a live performance- a cascade of golden light erupting from the hands of performers, frozen in a single perfect moment. The warmth, the movement, the drama — it’s all there.

Here’s what judge bginoc had to say:

“Great concept and colour... A wonderfully captured artistic rendition of fire. Congratulations!”

The full judge’s note: “Well done performance by the performing artists as just as commendable of a job on the part of the photographer capturing the essence of fire with perfect timing.” 👏

Timing like this doesn’t happen by accident. It takes vision, patience, and real skill to pull off a shot this powerful. Well done, Dmitry, this is photography at its finest. 🙌

Congratulations to bginoc, whose stunning marshmallow shot has taken the top spot in the Before and After contest — created and judged by rhlantz!

From the perfectly charred crust to the brilliant burst of orange flame and that gorgeous soft-focus green backdrop, this image is a masterclass in composition and timing. It captures a moment so universally familiar yet makes it feel entirely fresh — which is exactly what great photography does.

rhlantz put it best:

“There were so many great photos for the contest Before and After but this one of a s’more takes the lead! Quintessential to summer and a crisp clear image utilizing bokeh technique and a beautiful green backsplash against white, the burnt crust, and the brilliant orange hot flame. Simply fantastic. Congrats on your placement!”

A well-deserved win. The bokeh technique here is beautifully executed, drawing every bit of attention to that gloriously over-toasted marshmallow in a way that feels both intimate and cinematic. It’s the kind of shot that reminds you just how much everyday life has to offer when you look at it through a photographer’s eye.

Well done, bginoc — and thank you to rhlantz for running such an inspiring contest. Keep shooting, keep entering, and keep getting your work seen.

This unbelievable collection of captures rightfully secured Crowd member Andrew Robertson first place on our recent “Frozen Lakes and Rivers” portfolio contest, created and judged by Kieran Stone. 🏆

Which shot takes the crown for you? 👇

“I really enjoyed the mix of colours and shapes presented across this portfolio. The first image starts out moody and grey, with a literal triangle pointing the eye into the frame. We then get treated to various textures and colours captured in a controlled and professional manner. Each image has an otherworldly feel to it that matches the characteristics of a frozen landscape perfectly. It’s hard to pick a favourite when each of them would look great on a wall on their own. Excellent work, well done!”

Taking home the judged gold today is Crowd member Peter Braddock, for this exceptional entry into our recent “Red and Black Together (in colour)” contest. Created and judged by Andrea Simpson. 🏆

“This image spoke to me straight away. It has great atmosphere and the black with the pop of red on the models skirt really works well. The models pose and overall composition has been carried out well. A truly moody but beautiful image showcasing red and black together. Thankyou for entering and congratulations on judge 1st place.”

Today’s expert winner of our recent “Town and city Skylines” contest is Crowd member Deborah McPhail with this outstanding shot of the Manhattan skyline! 🤩

A true expert shot and well deserved win. 🏆

Contest created and judged by Kieran Stone 👏

“Skylines don’t get much more iconic than Manhattan, New York. With so many people capturing the same views of the same buildings, it’s important to focus on composition, exposure, and lighting. The time of day here allows for the interior building lights to sparkle across the scene like yellow stars in the night sky, while the setting sun casts just enough warm light to pick out the One WTC in the distance, drawing the eye further into the image. The blue lights on the Empire State Building contrast against the yellow lights of the skyline and sky to enhance it’s central position. The darkening of the sky along the top of the frame holds the eye within the scene, allowing it to scan across and enjoy the view. Great work!”

A very well deserved expertly judged win for Crowd member André Cosemans today in our recent “Nature in macro” contest, created and judged by Tracy Calder. 🏆

Stunning capture André! 👏

“Photographing dragonflies (and butterflies) before they’ve had time to warm up in the morning allows you to concentrate on the creative side of photography, rather than trying to chase them as they fly about in the sun. Here, a coating of dew has added a touch of magic, which is further enhanced by the bokeh in the background. The muted palette works wonders too. It’s a lovely natural scene.”

This fascinating entry in to our recent “Diamonds, Other Gemstones and Crystals” contest, saw Crowd member Leka Huie take home a well deserved first place. 🥇

A stunning capture. 👏

Contest created and judged by rhlantz.

“Amazing portraiture to encompass Diamonds Gemstones and Crystals Still life contest. The surrealism and position of the partial figure gazing toward a break in the clouds elevates the pieces the mannequin wears. This a photo about ambience and luxury that would be well marketed. Congrats on your placement.”

A very well deserved expertly judge first place for Crowd member Keith Milne today in our recent “Trains” contest. Created and judged by Lauren Pond. 👏🏆

“Great image! Where is this? The image as a whole here is just visually rich and amusing, including the fact that a moving train is operating very close to a large crowd. The many different kinds of lights and decorations make this scene all the more fun to look at. What especially gets me are the layers and layers of smartphones present. It looks like almost everyone present is documenting the close encounter with a device!”

A gorgeous expertly judged first place entry today for Crowd member Mats Carduner 👏

A well deserved win in our recent “Landscapes with water” contest, created and judged by Alan Ranger Photography 🏆

“A thoroughly deserved 1st place. That serpentine “dragon’s eye” foreground is doing exactly what a foreground should — grabbing you by the eyeballs and marching you off to the peak beyond. The long exposure has hushed the sea to a brooding calm without turning it to cotton wool, and that cool dusk palette keeps things atmospheric rather than merely pretty. If I’m being fussy, a whisper more light lifted into the darkest rock would tease out a touch more texture — but honestly, it’s a proper cracker and a worthy winner.”

A brilliant entry from Crowd member san_gemi into our recent “Two Photos Merged to form One Image (in colour)” contest. Crested and judged by Xoni Uelo 👏

A very well deserved win we feel. 🏆

“Fabulous image, well deserved winner of this contest. Very closely run with the Meeraffe, but the merging of this image are just about perfect and the colour blend also. Tremendously creative and superbly executed. Thank you very much for entering the contest, well done indeed.”
