Long before the first photographs were made, Chinese philosopher Mo Ti and Greek mathematicians Aristotle and Euclid described a pinhole camera in the 5th and 4th centuries BCE.In the 6th century CE, Byzantine mathematician Anthemius of Tralles used a type of camera obscura in his experiments.

দিনের বেলায় বাঁশি তোমার বাজিয়েছিলে অনেক সুরে –
গানের পরশ প্রাণে এল, আপনি তুমি রইলে দূরে ॥
শুধাই যত পথের লোকে 'এই বাঁশিটি বাজালো কে' –
নানান নামে ভোলায় তারা, নানান দ্বারে বেড়াই ঘুরে ॥
এখন আকাশ ম্লান হল, ক্লান্ত দিবা চক্ষু বোজে –
পথে পথে ফেরাও যদি মরব তবে মিথ্যা খোঁজে ।
বাহির ছেড়ে ভিতরেতে আপনি লহো আসন পেতে –
তোমার বাঁশি বাজাও আসি আমার প্রাণের অন্তঃপুরে ॥
