Observing Ptyas mucosa,(In Bengali - দাঁড়াশ সাপ) commonly known as the Oriental ratsnake, shedding its skin is a fascinating spectacle. The shedding process, scientifically termed ecdysis, is vital for the snake's growth and health. In the captured photos, you may notice the snake starting the shedding process from its head, gradually peeling off the old skin.
The snake's eyes may appear opaque or cloudy during this phase, as a spectacle known as the "opaque eye" is part of the shedding process. This is caused by a fluid build-up between the old and new layers of skin.
