Silent Predator in the Mist
In the heart of Dhikala, Jim Corbett, I captured this hauntingly beautiful image of a Changeable Hawk-Eagle during the first light of dawn. Despite challenging conditions — low light, heavy foliage, and early morning haze — my Sony A1 paired with the 400mm f/2.8 GM lens locked focus with stunning precision, nailing the intense stare of this raptor.
The Changeable Hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus cirrhatus) lives up to its name with variable plumage and stealthy presence. An apex canopy predator, it can take down prey as large as young monkeys and large birds, and often hunts from high perches in dense forests.
What makes this bird truly special is its piercing yellow eyes and remarkable adaptability — an elusive spirit of the wild, perfectly tuned to the rhythm of the jungle.
