Hope! পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে বড়ো ব্যাটারি হচ্ছে হোপ, যে ব্যাটারির জোরে বাবা তুমুল ঝগড়ার পরও রোজ মায়ের জন্যে ফুল নিয়ে বাড়ি ফেরে, যার জোরে মাস্টারমশাই দুর্বল ছাত্রটাকে দুটো অঙ্ক বেশি করান, বাংলা না জানা ছোটু তার আধো আধো বাংলায় বন্ধুত্ব করতে আসে। কিংবা সুন্দরবনের গোঁসাই কলকাতায় শহরে রিকসা চালায়। প্রত্যাশার তো কোন বয়স নেই তাই ঠাকুমা আবার নতুন করে মোবাইল শেখে। রোজকার অন্ধকার আর ছারপোকায় ভরা গুদাম ছেড়ে বন্ধুটা সিনেমায় পা বাড়ায়। Hope জিনিসটার এত জোর যে সবাই মুখ ঘুরিয়ে নিলেও, টালিগঞ্জ এ ছেলেটা রোজ গান গায়। হোপ ছিল বলেই না সবচেয়ে সুন্দর শার্ট টা পরে প্রথম ডেট এ গেছিলেন।আর এই জন্যেই আমার লেখা কেউ পড়েনা, তবু আমি আবার লিখতে বসি।

কারণ আমাদের যখন কেউ ছিল না, ছিল শুধু...

মন খারাপ...
ছোটবেলা থেকে যদি কিছু ফিরে কার পেতে চাই, তাহলে মন খারাপ, এখনও তো মনখারাপ, কিন্তু ছোটবেলার ব্যাপারটা অন্যরকম। অঙ্কে লাড্ডু পেয়ে মায়ের কাছে বকা খাওয়ার মনখারাপ আবার একথালা ভাত মা লাড্ডু পাকিয়ে খাইয়ে না দিলে মন খারাপ, বিকেলে খেলতে যেতে না দিলে মন খারাপ আবার খেলায় হেরে গেলেও মনখারাপ। স্কুলে ছুটি না পেলে মন খারাপ, আবার ছুটিতে বন্ধুদের না পেলে মন খারাপ, বেড়াতে বেরিয়ে বাবা যদি চিপসের প্যাকেট-টা কিনে না দেয় তো মন খারাপ, আবার পুজোয় নিজের জামা না কিনে আমাদের কিনে দিলেও মন খারাপ, বন্ধুরা কেড়েকুড়ে টিফিন খেয়ে নিলে মন খারাপ আবার বন্ধু ছাড়া একা একা ফুচকা খাওয়ার মন খারাপ।

মন খারাপ এখোনো আছে, তবে কেমন যেন!
কলেজ না পাওয়ার মনখারাপ, অনার্স কেটে যাওয়ার মনখারাপ, চাকরি না পাওয়ার মনখারাপ, চাকরি পেলে মনখারাপ, চাকরি ছাড়ার মনখারাপ, সব-সব কেমন যেন তালগোল পাকিয়ে যাওয়া মনখারাপ, ছোটবেলা থেকে যদি কিছু ফিরে পেতে চাই তাহলে...

Mon Kharap... If I could bring back one thing from childhood, it would be this.

Childhood mon kharap was different.
Failing in math and getting scolded by Ma - mon kharap.
Ma not feeding me with her own hands, making laddus of rice - mon kharap.
Not being allowed to go out to play in the evening - mon kharap.
And losing the game - also mon kharap.

No holiday at school - mon kharap.
Holiday but no friends to play with - mon kharap.
Baba not buying that packet of chips on an outing - mon kharap.
And Baba not buying clothes for himself during Pujo but buying for us - also mon kharap.
Friends snatching away my tiffin - mon kharap.
Eating phuchka alone without friends - mon kharap.

Mon kharap still exists.
But now it's different.
It's tangled. It's heavy.
College na paoar mon kharap.
Honours kete jaoar mon kharap.
Chakri na paoar mon kharap.
Chakri paoar por o mon kharap.
Chakri chere deoar mon kharap.
Everything is a tangled mess of mon kharap.

If I could get one thing back from childhood... it would be that mon kharap.

I witnessed murder not in a castle, but in a constituency.
Ambition not in a crown, but in a party flag.
Guilt not in a dagger, but in every headline of today’s India.

Theatre Tent doesn't just stage Macbeth - they dissect it. They show us how prediction becomes conspiracy, how power becomes blood, how revenge becomes our daily news. A Bengali adaptation that is so Shakespeare, yet so violently current, so political, so Indian.

From the witches of the whispering media to the Banquo of betrayed ideals - every character felt like someone we voted for, fought for, feared.
