That time we rolled into the Southern border town of Bhutan and just... breathed differently 🌿🇧🇹
You know how some places hit you the second you arrive? Phuntsholing did that for us. One minute you’re in the chaos and color of the Indian side, the next you’re staring at that clean, quiet archway that says “Welcome to Bhutan” and it feels like the world turns the volume down.
We spent just wandering, soaking it all in. Mornings and mist clinging to the hills, afternoons watching prayer flags snap against the blue sky, evenings with momos and laughter spilling out of tiny local stalls. The pace is slower here, and honestly, you don’t want to rush it.
What got me most was the mix: the buzz of a border town with traders, trucks, and stories from both sides, but underneath it all that unmistakable Bhutanese calm. Kids in gho and kira walking home from school, monks heading to dzongs, and us tourists trying to keep our jaws from dropping at how clean and green everything is.
We took way too many photos, and probably said “wow” a hundred times. But the best part wasn’t the sights. It was the feeling that you’re in a place that values happiness over hurry.
Leaving felt like pressing pause on real life. Phuntsholing, you’ll be in my camera roll and my head for a long time.
